Linleys welcomes you! Thank you for looking at my RU-vid channel.
Hi, I'm Warren Brand. You will find there are several themes in the content here. You may wonder what the commonality is with them - these including model railways, trekking, walking, camping and general outside stuff. Well, it's just me! I have had a deep interest in all these for the larger part of my life - and I'm not a youngster any more.
May 2024 : My hat is wearing out. It won't last much longer. I have started a buymeacoffee.com/linleys page where, if you would like to, you could donate a small contribution to the cost of a new hat! Just an idea; by looking at my channel your support is much appreciated anyway.
I keep my video library organised with playlists and suitable titles and thumbnails.
I try and produce one video each week and generally alternate between the themes.
Please click SUBSCRIBE, and LIKE on videos which appeal to your interest. Cheers, Warren
Hopefully not 4 feathers Warren 😂 Nice to see you out and about, I thought about buying the Ridge Raider before I got the OEX Salamanda thing... Enclosed bivvys like this are definitely not for me. I like a bivvy though, just not these types.
Hi Warren, great hike and camp. I've never been to the Peak district but recognised at once where you were from Pat's videos. It did look almost cold out there. Hope you got your train!! All the best
Thank you for your feedback. Sometimes the volume of the music is louder than I mean it to be but also sometimes I need to add louder music to mask/cover up music playing in the location - to avoid copyright issues. Did you mean generally or at any particular time? I will replay the video and think again about your feedback. There is always room for improvement - live and learn. Cheers, Warren :)
Just watched this one...exactly the stage I am at at the moment....measuring and drawing..... playing with ideas....it's great to be retired I think 😎. love the use of the old bannister brush - they have a myriad of uses 😃
Hi Warren. Did you ever dismantle those dodgy sensors to see what went wrong? Being reed switches in theory there is not much that can go wrong, I did wonder if they were rated for outdoor use or not and whether water had got inside and caused the issue? If moisture is getting inside and if it is the problem you could end up replacing units constantly which could be become a PITA as the railway expands. You might be better off making up your own units encapsulated in resin. Just a thought Richard
Enjoyed that Warren..my stomping ground...The Green mesh track is for the posh Gamekeepers during the Grouse shooting season..That view from the top of the Cut gate path always gets me....There is an Aircraft crash site near the Bull stones...you really should have visited Crow stones edge...it has one of the best views in the whole peak...I think the Fenced off area is the Bronze age burial mound area...The hill at the end of the ridge is High stones, South Yorkshires highest ground......the huge Cairn on Pike lowe is a Bronze age burial cairn.....i believe lots of training during the war went on along Ewden height..Tanks and what have we...all in all great video/Walk.
Hi Warren, enjoyed that! You can't go wrong with those gorgoeus views and the peace and quiet. I'll be digging my tent out the cupboard when I go back down to Devon for a week or so. Looking forward to be back under the stars in the fresh country air.
Got that wonderful clagy weather Warren just so it feels like normal. Shame the views were hidden. Looked like a comfortable overniter with a good selection of food. Bushyboy Oz.
Yes!! I have tested using car locking motors. My best go with these is to pulse them twice at 10v. First pulse to shift and second pulse to check. I found full 12v caused too much shock and bounce. How do you do yours???? Warren.
@@Linleys I'm going to experiment at 6v using a DPDT momentary switch with a 12v (using a 12v motorcycle battery) to 6v step down power supply convertor. Although I've done auto electrics etc etc, most of this stuff has to be painting by numbers for me. I hope that helps🤞👍😊
Barabel Sentinel has recently been repainted in the last few years, she didn't used to look that good 😂😂 Unfortunately Orton Mere suffers from a lot of vandalism which is why its now just left unloved as any love put into it just gets ruined 😊
Dammed shame about Orton Mere vandalism. Thank you for explaining. I did spot some graffiti on some walls. Selfish of them. So the diesel shutter had a recent re-paint. Did look in good shape. Nice. Cheers. Warren 🤠
I was disappointed with the faulty sensors but by the end of the time I had outside I was pleased with what I had managed to do this weekend. Thanks again for your support and encouragement. Cheers, Warren :)
Well spotted with the missing cables for the stop switch. Just like the bell button slot this is a future development. It won't be just a power off switch as I want the trains to slow down and stop under control of the system. More programming to work out with that! cheers, Warren :)
Those pesky little plastic bitss stuff it up on you. You must have nightmares about these things. Thanks for the update once again Warren. Bushyboy Oz.
I enjoy the tours around parts of London with my mate. We like the beer too of course. Next video in this series will be out in a few weeks. Cheers, Warren :)
@@Linleys would you ever consider doing more pub tour vids outside of London? I would also like to request a tour of Ealing if you get the chance, had some great times drinking there...
Hi Warren, my dad loved his Hillman Imp. I remember as a kid sitting in the back of it on a summer holiday trip to Scarborough. Leaded petrol fumes all the way in the back :D....but it was fun. I found your fun channel thanks to you recently looking after Hedley up an old hillside fort. I have subscribed
Hi Warren, looked a lot of fun, lovely to see the Imps, don't think I've seen a Husky before. My Uncle used to live in Alton and then Petersfield, in fact he was my Dads uncle, anyway he used to drive and Imp and we always used to joke with him that it was always breaking down!! I wonder if I have a photo somewhere 🤔🤔 It's a lovely looking car, quite distinctive. All the best!!
Huskies are rare. They didn’t make so many. I’d like to buy one. Almost bought a van version about 35 years ago. I should have done. Thanks for joining me on the tour. Cheers. Warren 🤠
That is a very interesting question. Looking at the map I'm not sure the answer, and nobody said anything about the Ranges when I visited. I hope to get back to the railway for a proper visit and a ride on a train later this year. Cheers, Warren :)
@@Linleys From what I can remember of my training it would be 1976/7 when I was last up at Warcop and our Base Camp was very close to a stream and rail line, BUT it could be the Ammunition was trucked into the camp. I remember it well because we where "invited" or ordered to lay down in the stream at 5am some morings prior to doing PT, damn it was cold even in July.
@@Linleys At least the cold stream woke some of us up before going off to practice Grenade throwing, unfortuneatly one idiot pulled the pin out of his grenade then dropped it, and the Instructor had to quickly pick it up and throw it or I would not be here to type this reply. All part of the Training I guess.
Brilliant progress Warren, always a joy to watch👍💜✌️😊 When its not raining, or snowing😲🙄🙄💔 we've finished our replacement boards, laid 4-5 yds of track too🙏🤞💜😀
Awesome Warren! Glad to see a train running around the garden railway, now are the outer lines the next step to be accomplished? I've been watching your playlist for the garden railway the past couple of days and looking forward to seeing the outer lines complete even though the concrete needs to be laid against the wood fence. Plus I run both N gauge and G scale trains with my G scale trains running on battery RC power.Happy railroading Warren from Arizona!
Warrens last train to Busan. Well done mate you've finally got the track back in action. Can see the satisfaction on your face. Like all rail there's always hiccups. Bushyboy Oz.
Yeahhhh! It was a relief to finally get the full line powered up and usable. Thanks for following along and your encouragement as always. Cheers, Warren :)
