I really hope EDF 6 gives us higher level versions of the Air Tortoise, Super Acid gun, and Firecracker. My dad mainly plays Ranger, and he almost always took the Super Acid gun before he unlocked the TZ Stork. For Air Raider, a higher ZE Sniper would be nice as well.
You are absolutely correct on lower levels regarding the Air Tortoise, on the levels with pillars, or any slower targets, I love how you can target stuff outside the range where you trigger or start drawing stuff (especially static targets) put several rockets in the air as you advance, they lock on so your target is getting destroyed, while you're free to reposition, or tackle the triggered enemies who are sadly not going to get anymore reinforcements.
I use the C bombs in some missions with lots of queen ants, etc. They do lots of damage and cover a huge radius. A few well placed bombs will kill a queen ant in two seconds. If I don't have time to set a trap I'll often jump toss one, roll back and set it off to kill pursuing enemies. You can also stick it directly on the enemy.
Thanks for the vids, glad to see ranger getting some love as it’s the only class I play. Trying to finish offline inferno. Some of it seemed impossible then I found a Japanese guy who cleared it all with 5-6k armour. Damn.
Late reply but I'd like to add in the Flame Geyser (level 34 iirc?) and the MXR Sirius (level 39~42) for Ranger hard mode. Flame geyser spawns a pillar of fire that is great for blocking access when shot onto walls, you can also make a wall of fire against species Gamma (Pillbugs) because their attacks fail if they take any damage during it. Really great control weapon. MXR Sirius is a high rate of fire assault rifle with an incredible magazine size and >penetrating< bullets, the DPS is a bit on the lower side compared to other assault rifles, but the constant stream of penetrating bullets are excellent for stunlocking and holding down lanes, gives off a fencer gattling vibe with penetration and fast reloads.
Lazy Larry ( ranger build) : 1. ME EMERALD. 2. Anything you like E. Multiple lock on device Finish the mission without moving a step 😁 Why EMERALD and not MLRA, Because of total reload + lock on time + range
Usually ranger goes as follows 1. Monsoon shotgun.. average damage and ROF but cannot beat the reload. Basically cannot tell a difference between cocking the shotgun and the reloads. 2. The sniper that shoots a fan of horizontal penetration bullets (can't think of its name now) but works wonders for hordes Support is lightweight armor for high walking speed for back peddling
I hope a future EDF gives us more classes. Iron Rain had that Zip-line movement class that was interesting... But there is room for so much more. I want a logistics class that deploys gun emplacements, poison gas, drones, and the very important laser fences that are essential for fighting giant monsters. It would also be neat to see a class that focuses on psychic abilities. And it would be great to have an engineer class that has more room for traps and can dig in defenses. Some of the weapons that are in the game just don't get a spotlight because they are drowned out by all the choices.
I'm having such a hard time with mission 49: airborne fights 2, on hardest. I can pick of a lot of the droys but one that huge wave of them drops, they all seem to wake up and just decimate me.
I found some usage for the prominence in 2025 (xb360) and better results for 4.1 (PS4). But the best thing going for the lvl 82 prominence is not the fire rate or it’s power/power to go over the buildings to kill. The best thing is this game going for it is that there is not earth eaters on the levels blocking the sky.
impulse can be good on that one level you are taking back the base later in the campain where there are a lot of anchors and you pull them one at a time. though the cbombs are better...
Flamer. It's an rifle that shoots laser beams with 600 plus meter range. When upgraded it'll do something like 8k damage per second. The base reload is 12 seconds, but upgraded reduces that. It's a level 107 so... Late game... Very late..
Having a tough time on hard mode doing that mission early on where the drop ships drop 3 waves of spiders. Should I just go back later? My toughest missions in hard are the ones where I tend to get overwhelmed by huge enemy numbers.
In my opinion the prominence has never been a sleeper weapon. But thats probably because i have loved it since 2017. It is such an amazingly useful tool. I am currently trying to get my first one to drop in 5 so i can finally play something aside from my air raider. Lol
what's the best route to taking on swarms of tadpoles? on solo inferno mission 103, the third wave of tadpoles always take me out. as soon as they spit the green fireballs at me, it completely blinds me covering my screen in green. then i'm being gobbled up and dead in a few seconds. this is with 5400 armor. Edit: i meant as a ranger. I've tried many combinations of radar equips with the MLRA and using the NPCs as decoys, but i just can't control the crowd.
It is tough for ranger but I have done it with a friend before. What we did was take the NPCs and we had mex5 missile launchers with the missile item. We walked away from where the tadpoles come from and keep firing missiles. With the extra range from the item, it killed or knocked down or killed most of them and you can also take a healing bomb for when the land. The NPCs take most of the damage and the mex5 is strong enough to kill them fast.
@@KevinEDF i don't have anyone to play coop with me. i'm still trying to improvise things. i need to try taking a high defense vehicle and then hopping in a turret seat facing the epicenter of the tadpole attack.
Great vid as always, didn't knew about that prominence, since EDF 2025 I just ignore it hahaha. So Kevin, what are your expectations for the EDF Iron rain? For me it looks like a sequel to insect Armageddon but it seems fun (especially with that new class that let you control insects)
Hey I'm gonna start playing edf 5 for the first time. Couple questions How do you"upgrade" guns? Hope that the same gun continues to drop, and keep on collecting them? Or do you just hope that the upgraded one drops, Why should i play online solo vs offline solo? Thanks
>Or do you just hope that the upgraded one drops This one. >Why should i play online solo vs offline solo? Online has modifiers for hp and damage of enemies that scale off playercount, even when playing solo. Offline solo is a lot easier and many more weapons are viable.
I noticed that if you play online and you look at the weapon limits for a level, the weapon drops are usually a little lower than the weapon limit, so that can help you make a close guess.
I use the Bombs and the DLC #2 Mission with all the Keiju.. Solo & Inferno of course.. You drop a ton of em and it will usually kill one after doing this twice. The Giant Turtle is a lil harder but it's a fun missions.. ~~Using the run fast special is a must.. ~Of course the mission is super easy to farm Ranger wepaons on Inferno cause any High end level 80 shotgun will do the trick... The shotgun with the exploding shells will kill em in 2 mags! Good times Kevin,,, Can you read Japanese? AFTER 4.1 + 5. I just realized your still using the Japan release STILL. That;s some serious loyalty to a save file for sure.
I don't if my favorite current Ranger weapon can be considered "underrated." Are people using the Minion Busters online a lot? I was maining the Mk 2 for a while and have recently gotten and upgraded the Mk 3. It has excellent power which doesn't decrease over its range, and more importantly the damage is done in two phases because the shells explode a few moments after hitting the target. This leads to a lot of stun-locking and can be a real life-saver when reloading. Also, its reload time (when upgraded sufficiently) and mag capacity are all pretty good. The only thing it's lacking is a truly great range-- hornet queens and advanced drones usually keep well out of it.
@@KevinEDF Definitely! I'm nearing the end of my first playthrough on Hard, I hope this series of rifles keeps scaling up as you go and there iterations of it still useful in Inferno.
