Edgar Oliver is a legandary East Village playwright, actor and poet. While meeting with filmmaker Jerome Poynton in NYC, I was introduced to Edgar through a film in which he was the star. He was AMAZING, and I had to get a video portrait of him, so off I went...I have to say, this was so hard to edit because the ONLY footage not worth putting in was when I was asking a question, and even then, I could just mute my voice. You will LOVE this guy, and if you don't...there is something wrong with you. Enjoy!!!

I was fortunate enough to experience Edgar Oliver last night while he was on the Unchained Tour (Jacksonville, Florida show). He is AWESOME!!! Additionally wonderful hanging out with he and the cast afterwards. Magical memories.

This guy is definately different, growing up my mom always managed to befriend odd & interesting people like this man. I always wondered how she'd meet them until one day I realized, it's bcuz she's a bit odd as well. I'm glad i've become much like my mom.

I live in Savannah, and I just love listening to this guy. You wouldn't know, listening to him, that he grew up in a Southern town, but Edgar Oliver's stories of growing up here are so familiar. I bet his mother loved going over Talmadge Bridge.

Ohhhhh, I LOVE it! I could listen to him and watch him forever. His voice is splendid, and his face is wonderful. Wonderful to paint. His teeth are wonderful...but that voice and the way he "spins a yarn"...it's magical. Oh, to go to a party at his house!

I met Edgar during the early 80's through my best friend Michael Bates who taught me to do impressions of Edgar before I even met him... I recently was doing an impression of him upon wakening when my wife commented ... this voice you do is funny and interesting sometimes, but sometimes it's scary ! Sort of like Boris Karloff as an undertaker... I am thrilled to see him again here after all these years... Our dear friend Kirsten, sent me the link tonight. Thanks , girl .... you made my night.

he's from savannah, georgia - he says that he and his sister talk that way because his mother talked that way, and they were so sheltered that hers was practically the only voice they ever heard. thank god for that - it's incredible.
