I bought the original Kimono LP as a young teen in the 70's and knew Sparks were very special back then. I still have the album plus Indiscreet. I had A Woofer In Tweeter's Clothing and Sparks first on tape. So original - 'Fletcher Honorama' is a favourite track. I love that they are still producing music and so happy that they are being rediscovered by many more people since the documentary came out.

Totally enthralled by the first version of Sparks on U.K. late night television in 1972. Bought every album from the beginning as it was released. Seen them live forty-five times. After all this time their latest album is one of their best and am looking forward to the tour going ahead next year to rack up a few more gigs. Even so they have followers far more dedicated than me. Of course they are real. My eldest son says they are the soundtrack of his life and he’s 46.
@ErikTJ86

I don't know there, Mr. du Marais. 45 times is pretty impressive. I would say that DOES put you up in top echelon of dedicated followers. I don't see how that is even remotely possible unless you do live in the UK or expended many frequent flier miles around the globe to see them, because their tour history isn't that immense. Wow. Hats off!

Been a fan for almost 50 years now. First record I got of theirs was Kimono My House when it dropped(now have 3 different copies, Canadian original press, Uk first press and the 40th anniversary release), an absolutely spectacular gem of a record. First show I saw of theirs was for the Propaganda tour and the last time was a few years ago for the Two Hands, One Mouth tour. A truly intriguing, brilliant, frustrating, inventive pair of individuals who never really got the recognition they deserve. And the album they put out last year is another gem.

Began listening to Sparks when I was nine, back in 1974. Our nanny introduced me to them. For a couple of years, 1974-75, they were absolutely huge, during the time of their classic albums, "Kimono My House", "Propaganda", and "Indiscreet". Swedish Television showed a documentary about them. Having very vague memories of that documentary, but I vividly remember Ron's huge toy collection :D I eagerly look forward to seeing this documentary, when it reaches Scandinavia. Sparks has always had a special relation to Sweden: Their favourite scene in the whole world, was Södra Teatern, "Southern Theatre", in Stockholm, Sweden. They've recorded a couple of live videos at that venue. For some inexplicable reason, I never saw them there. Nowadays, they can no longer perform there, so I saw them the first time at Circus in Stockholm, 2017. 43 years after I first started listening to them. Then again, in 2018. They are better than ever.

Edgar Wright and Sparks just have such a similar sense of humor and you could really see it in the documentary. This Town Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us, while a big hit in UK, never charted here in America, nor has it gotten any significant airplay on classic rock stations since. I discovered them by listening to KROQ in Los Angeles in the early '80s, completely unaware that they had already been around about 10 years. KROQ is specifically mentioned in the documentary because that was one of the few stations playing them in America. It should be of no surprise that younger generations have never heard of them, at least in the US.

I think Cool Places is the Sparks’ song people are most likely to know here in the States, although that song is almost 40 years old, so younger people might not know it. The first song I ever heard by them was Angst In My Pants, and that’s because it is on the Valley Girl soundtrack. I don’t remember hearing them on the radio at all when I was growing up in the ‘80s/‘90s. Sparks were pretty underrated in America before Wright’s documentary started to give them a lot of exposure recently.

I don't recall hearing them. I have listed to and followed many bands as well as solo artists. Here in the USA, we're they a one hit wonder like The Jaggerz?

They've put out about 25 albums...not so much a band that relied on hits..

25 albums released already, Ron and Russell are also working on number 26. Hardly one hit wonder they’re not appreciated worldwide they way they should be

The closest they had to a Top 40 single on the pop charts in the US was "Cool Places" with Jane Wiedlin of The Go-Go's, which peaked at #49 in 1983. So, even that wasn't really a big hit. That's why so few in America have heard of them.

i saw the documentary never having heard of them, just because there was a Weird Al cameo in it, and since then I've seen Sparks perform live 13 times. They are definitely real, and they're an amazing, dynamic live band, touring new material.
