Wow, do I have a treat for you! This has to be one of the most complex and delicious aromatic pipe tobacco blends I have ever had.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Edgeworth Cavendish Rich Aromatic or Edgeworth Gold for short. I got my hands on a pre 1974 tin and pouch of this classic tobacco. It is a unique blend of rich Red Virginia and Golden Bright leaf carefully combined with free-burning Maryland, cool Burley and naturally aromatic Oriental tobaccos. As for the topping, it is a caramel-nut flavoring and a delicate dressing of Algerian Rose. Superb!
I really hate that this one is no longer available. I've never had anything quite like it. It really is a heavenly thing!
I'd like to take the opportunity to shout out Merchant Service Pipes, which I feature in this video! If you haven't had a chance to add one of these beauties to your collection, I assure you that you are missing out. Two videos posted in one day - you're on a roll, Parker. Congratulations on scoring a tin and a pouch of this. Dare we dream that somewhere there is a forgotten warehouse in which cases of these abandoned tobaccos are waiting to be discovered? The Algerian Rose dressing sounds like the crowning touch of the blend. The room note (and taste?) must be amazing. You might say the tobacco sounds as soft as Mel Torme's voice (Melvin Howard Tormé, nicknamed "The Velvet Fog"). His song style conveys the laid-back, relaxation that smoking a great pipe tobacco cab bring. He wouldn't have made that association though. He was careful to the point of mildly over-cautious about his voice. No smoking, rarely had any alcohol, and obsessed about avoided drafts. I suppose you couldn't blame him. His career was built on that voice. The offers found inside the old canisters and pouches are sometimes as interesting as the tobacco - and to think that was all pre-internet. I wish I had warehouses of this. Edgeworth really had a gem with this blend. Every single one of their tobaccos I’ve loved. I hate that they have gone the way of the dodo!

@@pipe_appeal Alas, the time tested blends have faded into the haze of pipe smoke in the past 😞There was, perhaps, a lack of pretentiousness about them that gave them their appeal. They were the working man's pipe tobaccos - blue collar and white collar.

Wow! Great video! I've tried a match of a different Edgeworth before after seeing one of your videos, but didn't even know that this one existed before. Sounds and looks amazing! The pipes and music are great as well. Merchant was the pipe of choice for Bing Crosby, wasn't it? What a gem! Thanks for another great video!

Man this blend really is amazing. So sad they don't make it anymore. Bing had several hundred pipes in his collection but he is most famous for smoking Merchant Service pipes.

I was so horrified at the thought of it being Sam Smith that I googled it. It’s “You’re a Heavenly Thing” by Mel Tormé. I’ve always thought that another of his songs, “Comin’ Home, Baby”, sounds like a rather sultry woman.

I'm glad you discovered the artist. My apologies for the late reply. Yes, Mel has a unique voice. Not my favorite in the world but I thought it would be fitting for this tin especially with the lyrics about sprinkling roses since there is rose topping. Cheers, Miss Worm!

Parker, this is one Edgeworth blend I've neither seen nor heard of. I found a description of it on another site saying that the aromatic component combined caramel and rose essence. Rose used to be fairly common. London Dock comes to mind. Great video!

This one is a little rarer to find than the others, and I can see why. It's delightful! So complex for an aromatic and tastefully done. We need this one back along with all the Edgeworth blends.

Thanks Parker, another winner. The more I learn about the various Edgeworth offerings, the more I'm convinced that we indeed lost something very special within American Tobacco production with their closing.

Nope! All of the tobaccos featured in my videos are genuine and authentic tobacco from the period that I mention (usually in the video title). Sadly this blend is no longer available!
