My mother's name was Margaret, and in recent years I found St Margaret was her 24th Great Grandmother. I planned a visit to Edinburgh on my way to the Platinum Jubilee. Mom wanted to see lots of pictures, then she died eight months before my trip from the Pandemic. My Scottish visit became one of mourning and remembrance. I stopped to pray at St. Margaret's Chapel and was so awed all I could do was thank the lord for my mother. I arrived in Scotland one year ago today, and then this video popped up in my recommendations. 🤎🏰 👑
What a touching story, Michael. I am so sorry for the loss of your mother but am so thankful you were able to visit the chapel and feel that connection to St. Margaret. I hope my video did it justice for you xx
Thank you for providing such an outstanding tour of this remarkable historical castle, Margaret! I'm a 14x great grandson of King James IV in several lines. I don't believe that I'll ever be able to see the castle in person, but I feel as though I have been there by way of your thorough and very informative video.

I used to do annual inspections of the gas network inside the castle. So I got to access to the whole place and the guide from Historic Scotland took me to other parts to show me as both of us loved our history. The place is truly amazing
Thank you for this video, Margaret! You do such an incredible job telling the stories of these incredible places! I hope you have one for Balmoral and Stirling Castle in the near future!
You are most welcome, Jackie! Stirling is in my sights, for sure. Balmoral is pretty strict on filming so not sure what I could manage, but never say never..!

Margaret was our guide for the Royal Mile free tour. She was lively and an excellent storyteller . Great to see her here since we weren’t able to visit Edinburgh Castle due to King Charles’ visit.

Hi! I loved your video❤️ I have spent a week in Edinburgh and inverness this last July and it was an amazing time! I hope we can go back some day because there are so many places to visit in Scotland! Thank you 🍀🍀🍀
Absolutely great video. Thanks so much. It, of course makes it all the more pleasant, to listen to such a nice voice. I'm off to watch the other videos you've made.

Really excellent documentary and overview; she goes into good detail but at a steady pace easy to absorb and it has definitely encouraged me to visit Edinburgh Castle some day in the near future; Thank you

Hi,, awesome live history video I enjoyed it. I went to Scotland in 1996. I went to the city of Glasgow Scotland. Very beautiful historical city. How are you? I'm doing well. Have a great day see you next video greetings from Canada 😊
Brilliant video. Visited 2023 November and we had only 1 day in Edinburgh. We did the bus tour, but for the same 4 hours, it looks like a thorough castle tour would have served better. Cheers from LaLa Land, California.

Well that was a surprise about the usage of the rabbits foot. Fortunately your humour is still intact. Another wonderful tour. With grandparents from Scotland whose brogue was so thick as a kid i wondered what language they actually spoke. The WWI hero Haig was given to my father as his middle name in honour. This was another great tour, Margaret, even without any medieval fire extinguishers. I guess the Scots were more diligent! I also thought the use of photos was an appropriate and respectful way of allowing us to see in where cameras cannot go. Good choice. Fun and informative as always.🎉🎉🎉
I'm so glad you enjoyed this one! That's so interesting about your grandparents and your dad's middle name - thank you for sharing that. I am not very much hoping my next video has a fire extinguisher for you but I cannot promise anything. Thank you so much, as ever, for your kind and thoughtful comments! You have definitely made my evening :)

I got interested with Scotland history during Robert Bruce thanks to historical romance series of author Monica McCarty where she used historical events and figures(like Thomas Randall, Earl of Moray, etc) of that time for her books. Amazing castles. Hope to visit them in the near future.

One can spot a genuine medieval portcullis by the Murder Holes in the arch above, through which arrows would be shot and boiling pitch, water and excrement would be tipped on the invaders attempting to enter.
Enjoyed the tour very much. One error I noticed near the end which refered to the British crown. There is no such crown. There are two crowns . Scotland's and England's. Neither were abolished and still exist as do the two sovereign states.
Glad that you enjoyed the video! If you haven't done so already, you can hopefully check out our back catalogue of virtual London tours ru-vid.comvideos. There is more where this came from.
All buildings are lovely and some people . Mary queen of Scott's was used by people and forced to marry her second husband who killed Mary first husband did she know this not sure tess
Imagine paying a fortune to watch the Tattoo and find that your seat is high up, enough for your panic attacks to kick in to high gear as all you see is how high up off Princes Street you are! 😱 P. S. In the word KIRKCALDY, the " L" is silent effectively pronounced " Kirk_Awww_deh
Oh noooo, don't tell me that's what happened to you..?! And thank you for the tip - a couple people have mentioned it and I have been debating if I should try to make a voice edit but think it may be too much trouble!
I have many Scottish ancestors who ended up in the Americas. My original family surname was probably Ross, we have connections to the Munro and Lindsey clans. How my ancestors ended up in England again later don't know. Strange world. I am a proud English man now. I find Scottish history strange. Andrew Murray is the real hero of the Scottish wars and they would never have won the battle of Sterling bridge without him. Bruce and Wallace were of Norman origins and the wars to them l Believe to them were a land grab. Many Scottish Lords had land on both sides of the boarder. There is a good book called 'Freedoms Sword' by Traquair. Bruce was also a murderer.
@@michaelwhite8031 I can understand it fine :) Thanks for the extra info - and the book recommendation. It is interesting to think at some point your ancestors packed up an jumped the border but their reasons are lost to time..!
