Being Scottish I love when we have visitors to Scotland, for pronouncing Edinburgh the best way I can brake it down for you is Eh - din - bruh = Edinburgh. There are lots of different accents across Scotland Glasgow being the most "aggressive" sounding but it mostly from passion. Where I am from in Dundee, its again a very fast sounding accent but not as aggressive sounding as the Glaswegian one. I hope you had a great time at the Hogmanay!
