Fortress ef to discard is continuous and even if it does not starts a chain, the player has to decide to use it it. If he activated a "when" card (such as torrential tribute), then he's not using it at all.
Sorry I'm at work so replying is limited. So he doesn't decided to use it. If fortress is face up on the field when the effect that targets it, is resolving then fortress automatically discards from the opponents hand he doesn't chose to do it he HAS TO do it. But in this case since he torrential tribute himself fortress is gone and that continuous effect cannot be applied to the resolution of Gyzarus. If he had chained bottomless Gyzarus dies and then discards two cards from his hand.
Ya he shoulda gyzarus the ryko and backrow, then prisma contact fuse. In general though, don't monster target fortress unless you empty your hand first. It's a monster version of dustshoot if you don't.
Im sorry but i think it’s funny if he pulls out the phone to show a ruling on his own card but doesnt know its summon condition lmao Gbs too good. That prisma play would’ve been godly
Fortress doesn't activate, it's continuous. A card is discarded from the opponent's hand at the time the effect monster targeting it would resolve. But if Fortress gets destroyed before that, like if the field gets Torrential'd on Gyzarus's summon then Fortress's continuous effect can't be applied.
Yea he shouldn't have discarded for Fortress when the field got Torrential'd. Guy doesn't even know how his own cards work despite bringing up the ruling. Glad Javi still won though. Get it? GLAD he still won? GLAD?
Going x-1 in a 30-person tournament and not making top cut is crazy. Definitely should've been Top 8. I'd rather risk being undefeated and lose to an x-2 in Top 8 than be an x-1 and not make top cut. Just my two cents.
