Having done a lot of editing in the past - though not on this scale, of course - I came out of this film immediately wondering how the hell the editors managed all the footage and timelines, and what the editing timelines must have looked like. I even gave Paul a shout out on Twitter (along with the assistant editors) to congratulate him/them. Impressed doesn't even begin to cover it. Hope we get more a in-depth look at the editing workflow and process but, until then, congratulations on an amazing achievement and an amazing film.
I agree, but keep in mind they won't win any awards for visual effects, they are going up against Avatar 2. This year's Oscars will be pretty much guaranteed split between those 2 movies. This movie should win best movie, best director, best screenplay, best actress, best supporting actress. Jamie Lee has never won an Oscar so the academy will just hand it to her this year. But every technical achievement, sound, editing and visual effects award will go to Avatar.
@@FablestoneSeries assuming the hype is there for avatar: the way of water, you’re more than likely correct for the most part. idk if jamie lee curtis will win for supporting actress though. I’d bet on stephanie hsu over her. also ke huy quan should win for best supporting actor
@@BROJANGSTER Jamie lee will at least get a nomination, but because of her age and seniority, and that it is overdue, i suspect she will win, unless someone else blows her out of the water. As for Avatar, no one else beats James Cameron when it comes to technical achievements. They might not win for sound or for music, but you can bet they will win a dozen or more technical oscars. I'd love to see this movie win for editing because it was just 5 guys on a laptop and that needs to count for something, but they are just out matched when it comes to James Cameron. They could get a nomination for editing at least.
there are a lot out there actually. the coen bros used final cut in the 00s and then jumped to premiere near the 10s i think. i don't think they ever used avid
I've edited on Premiere Pro before, I'm more a Final Cut Pro X guy. This right here is proof that A LOT goes into the editing process of films. Kudos to the editor and directors of one of my favorite movies of this year.
At 5:07 such a great exchange between MY and JLC. Hilarious how JLC slowed down her speech in a condescending way. That was some great acting between the two!
Editors and VFX artists need more plaudit, seriously, I can't imagine the amount of effort that went into this film. I had stay and watch the credits just out of respect XD
To me and other university students using Preimere Pro for there Media Editing and Production courses, I respect this movie so much and as a insperation that using premiere pro will someday get us to the oscars

Imagine putting this on your resume: worked on set design for everything everywhere all at once…….. filmed everything everywhere all at once……. Did stunts for everything everywhere all at once… etc.
My editing class uses Adobe Premiere Pro cuz my college provides it for free, and we watched EEAAO in class. I had already seen the film twice before, but seeing all the techniques we learned and practiced in class be applied so flawlessly in this movie was so awesome. Truly a masterpiece. 👏
When I watched this movie, I couldn't help but notice some Michel Gondry inspiration, especially "Eternal Sunshine". I was absolutely delighted when I saw in an interview that they were indeed inspired by his use of practical effects.
Having used Premiere Pro for 5, almost 6 years, and just recently having swapped over to DaVinci resolve, DR is much better in my opinion. Performance is off the charts especially compared to Premiere, and the layout is much more streamlined in my opinion. But I started with Premiere, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.
No one talks about the sound design and music, but it was superb. This movie would be MUCH LESS IMPACTFUL if the sound design and music was not as good as it was. BTW I am an audio engineer
I mean, it’s very likely that the film was graded in either Resolve or Baselight, I can almost guarantee that it wasn’t graded in Premiere. By the sounds of it the film was only cut in premiere with basic masks for placeholder VFX. The rest, included VFX, grade and audio will have been done in dedicated software.
@@jaejones8736 I saw that too. I just wasn't sure if there was even more advanced software then that. As a film nerd and a guy who played with after effects, it is astounding what a five person vfx team can do!
This video had so much potential to be an actual conversation about the artist aspect of a very well edited film sponsored by Adobe, but instead it is three very talented artists doing an ad read for software that functions similar to most other products in its class. You could have produced a seriously educational discussion about making film, independent of tools, with a small nod to the sponsor, yet instead you made over seven minutes of promo that teach me nothing more than what I can learn from reading the add copy on your website.
Finalizing a film in Adobe Premiere - it always goes wrong. So many crashes and bugs. I am a commercial editor and I hate the instability of this software.
Great editing of every sequence and scene of the movie. Please use new and good non famous actors for your next movie. No Reynolds, Hemsworths or holland.
