Thanks. ACE exams were mandatory for a while at Adobe and I'm the worse at taking any kind of tests. Congratulations on being ACE certified 'cause it ain't easy!

I know this is an older video, but I just came across it. I am just learning this stuff and I have to say that your videos are the first videos to help me really understand the Slip and Slide and the Rolling Edit (from another of your videos). You're very thorough.

Thanks for this. The same tool is in the open source Olive video editor but they haven't written the documentation yet, so this was very handy!
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 5 лет назад
The one area you will have issues with open source is codec formats and licensing. Adobe pays vendors to use proprietary codecs and open source must develop workarounds with open libraries.
@MichaelKean
@MichaelKean 5 лет назад
@@VideoRevealed fair enough. Olive defaults to something called libx.H.264 / AVC / MPEG-4 AVC / MPEG-4 part 10. Seems to work OK, I combined three audio sources and two video sources for a two hour project without issues, except for a bug in moving the second video source position with the mouse.
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 5 лет назад
MPEG isn't free so they're cooking their own stuff in the background. Plus, Adobe spends a huge amount of time and money supporting thousands of cameras.

Is there a way to slip on the fly? For instance I want to type in +6frames or -6 frames to slip without using the mouse?
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 4 года назад
You can't move it by a set amount but you can use the keyboard shortcut to nudge it by one frame or five frames. That larger value can be set in the Preferences. Open the Keyboard Shortcuts and search for "slip".

Thank you for these amazing tutorials! Seriously so helpful :) and increasing my editing confidence tremendously. There was one effect in this video that I really enjoyed. @3:03 you drew an animated green rectangle outline to show us what to focus on. Do you have a video that explains how to do this? Thanks, -Eric
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 7 лет назад
Thanks Eric, we all start somewhere and with time we build up some killer editing chops! The highlighted rectangles are added in Camtasia, which is what I use to record my screen. It's one of the built-in annotations and I also use Camtasia for all my zooms.

Thanks for the video, I've been trying to figure this out for a while.This is going to save lots ofttimes do headaches. You have great audio in your videos. Do you use any effects and EQ for audio. If you do I would love to see a tutorial. I've been struggling to get consistent audio in my videos.
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 9 лет назад
Jason Todd Roberts Thanks for the kind words. Good audio always starts with a good signal and for that I use a professional boom mic and this great preamp from Beachtek beachtek.com/dxa-slr-ultra/ From there the signal goes directly into my Blackmagic Cinema Camera which took a bit of tweaking to get the best signal without clipping. The Cinema Camera doesn't have good audio on its own so it needs help and the boom needs Phantom power to run and the Beachtek gives me that. During recording I have to fight with loud fans on my laptop and the projector sitting on the floor behind me. To remove that hiss I use the Denoiser in Premiere Pro but other than that I use no other EQs or compressors. It took me about 30 videos to get to the correct settings and I took photographs of all the settings so I can recreate it at any time. I will do a full tutorial on my workflow so stay tuned for that in the future. Let me know if you have any other questions.
@JasonToddRoberts
@JasonToddRoberts 9 лет назад
I've never tried using a preamp before. I have some good mics but I've always plugged them directly into my recorder. Ill have to try it out. I'll let you know how it works out for me, thanks
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 9 лет назад
Jason Todd Roberts The audio guys call this "gain staging" which refers to getting the best input gain at each point. If I try to record directly to the BMCC the signal is very thin and weak and it's really hard to add any punch to it after loosing so much signal. If I go back and listen to my music projects from 20 years ago the signal is embarrassingly thin.

Hi Colin. Thanx for your many great vids! I have a question, nothing to do with this reveal tho. Audio. Is there a way to use Premiere pro cc with the Digidesign IO 96 Audio interface (Avid) I have protools HD also running. Thanx again :-)
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 7 лет назад
Premiere Pro supports Core Audio on the Mac and ASIO on Windows and so does the IO 96 so I don't see why it wouldn't work. Look in the Preferences> Audio Hardware and pick the IO 96 from the dropdown menu.

How to make the effect like suddenly 2-3 clones walking side by side with motion blur effect when hero walking.Most of the cases I have seen these kind of effects in film trailers... please help me to do these kind of effects?
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 7 лет назад
That kind of effect would require several days of extremely hard rotoscoping or masking and tracking. Sorry but I won't be doing a tutorial on that.

Is there a way to use slip and slide with the keyboard to go frame by frame?
@VideoRevealed

Yes. Search for both Slip and Slide in the keyboard shortcuts to find out what they are.

@jslabaug

Do you have tips for using slip and slide with single frame increment keyboard shortcuts? The mouse is great for some things but i'm very used to using the single keyframe slip and slide shortcuts from final cut pro 7 and would love to integrate them in premiere
@jslabaug
@jslabaug 6 лет назад
I guess the main difference after looking through the keyboard shortcuts is that you have to assign different keys for adjusting things in single frame increments whereas in FCP you can use the same keys for all different "modes", (slip, or slide) for adjusting by a single frame. darn
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 6 лет назад
I'm glad you found it but you're right, it would be better to have a single shortcut.
