Madhavi Puri Buch claims that she has done the necessary disclosures of her investments to concerned authorities within SEBI. While her (yet to be verified) claim is correct on technical grounds, to whom were these disclosures made? Why were these disclosures not flagged for conflict of interest? Why was she not asked to vacate her investments to prevent ANY conflict of interest when taking up the ultimate position at SEBI? Any way you look at it, there was negligence on the part of someone within SEBI. The funny part is, SEBI is not providing information on who is responsible. And how can they when she remains chairperson? Finance Ministry has to take cognizance. Interestingly, why is the Finance Ministry silent on this? What kind of signal is been sent to local and global investors? - Little bit of here and there is ok at the top but you still have to promptly do TDS and pay Income Tax, Professional Tax, 18% and 28% GST, STT, 20% STCG, 12.5% LTCG and multiple cesses?

Poor Madhabi Bhuj Puri must be living a life of hell at the moment. But then she is not poor the woman has made a lot of money taking most of it from us taxpayer.

She displayed poor judgment and malintent when advocating that investors invest in REITs, not to mention SEBI's token gestures undertaken in the Adani case which were simply an eyewash. As the head of a regulatory agency, she should maintain a neutral stance and not promote any particular asset class or investment. Obviously her husband's employment with BlackRock and its promotion of REITs along with the prospect of acquiring a lot of wealth influenced her decision to steer investors toward such investments. In peddling REITs and failing to undertake any substantive action in the Adani case, she has lost gravitas and credibility and brought disgrace to the position of the SEBI Chair.
