It's interesting to hear that Tom believes that the jump between An End Has a Start and In This Light and on this Evening, was bigger than that between Violence and EBM. I agree, and would also add that the reaction has been different this time around too. When ITLAOTE came out, the press and a lot of fans had already locked the band in a box marked "Indie" or "Post-Punk" that only held loud guitars and skinny jeans. So the shift was jarring when we learned they managed to sneak some sythns in there too. When EBM dropped, it was more about the songs rather than the style or genre they occupied, because Editors had been open to experimentation for so long, it was no longer shocking. Progress.
