8:10 "an amenity rich neighbourhood with several strip malls" Great... that's sooo appealing. What's more appealing is turning those strip malls into mixed use buildings with parking on the back or side. Even if it's retail on the first floor, with offices on the second and third floor.

“Professionals” should really know how to pronounce their occupation. The word is realtors (two syllables) .... not “real-a-tors” and realty (again just two syllables) ... not “real-a-ty”. Other than that, a nice video with some awesome views of Edmonton and showcasing what a great city it is.

Did you name any Northern areas? If so I didnt catch it. I'm moving to Edmonton soon to work at the military base. Because of its location I was planning on buying in the Northern part of the city. But your video pretty much makes it seem like North Edmonton isnt a great place to live.
@maestroadam

Go live in St. Albert. You'll be close to the base and you'll be in a beautiful neighborhood.
@michaeljensen1625
@michaeljensen1625 2 года назад
@@maestroadam I've certainly been scouting houses in St. Albert too. However, the places that I tend to like a little more on Realtor.ca are all in North Edmonton. It'd be helpful to know (as I have never been to Edmonton) whether or not they're in good or bad areas. Since the video only mentions south and central locations, it makes viewers like myself assume North Edmonton is sketchy. Is that the case? Are some areas better than others? If the right house pops up in St. Albert I'd happily move there as well.
@maestroadam
@maestroadam 2 года назад
@@michaeljensen1625 Hi Michael, yes. North east Edmonton is perceived as sketchy. I would personally not live east of 127 st. As an Edmontonian of 31 years, I can attest that there is truth to that perception as well. North West Edmonton (west of 127 st and 153 Avenue) is better, but also more expensive.

What's the most lively neighborhood?
@elizalee1214
@elizalee1214 2 года назад
The neighborhoods near Whyte Avenue are the most lively ones. Whyte Avenue is full of pubs for people to socialize and there are many festivals and activities in the summer. The neighborhoods in this area are also near the river and Millcreek ravine. Edmontonians like to go there for hiking, bicycling, canoeing, walking dogs...

Moving to Edmonton from Yellowknife NWT. Found rotation work in Fort Mac so I work 2 weeks away then come back to Edmonton for 1 week. I arrive in a few weeks and haven't chosen a place to live yet. Will rent until I am familiar enough with the place to buy. Found a decent basement suite in Windermere for 900 a month plus 30% utilities. I'm not committed to it but I'm leaning that way. I am 32, single male no family or pets, coming from a small town and excited about being in Edmonton in general. I really liked renting the Lime scooters in the summer and a sick internet Cafe in St.Rupert area called OverKlocked. Anybody feel free to message me here, I don't know anybody in Edmonton and I love conversation. Tell me what part of town you would choose if you were me! I'd love it hear it!

Glenora = 100 years of enforced blandness. Summerside is just more sprawl, and the lake is there to minimize storm drainage demands. South Edmonton Common is just your generic big box tumour. Riverbend is 1970s sprawl. And... okay, you just recommended Windermere. I will stop taking you seriously now.

Would love to see edmonton move away from sprawl. It's so unsustainable for our city. I grew up in Riverbend and windermere, and although they're nice and new, they're also pretty boring. Most of edmonton is car dependent and cookie cutter. Wish we would urbanize, create more density, and stop building outside the henday.

@@tomc4139 lol. Urbanization is hell? That’s why western countries have been urbanizing for decades and the most expensive real estate is in the core of cities?? Also, you live in Sherwood park…but expect good transit? Lol. That’s called being a freeloader. Don’t even pay taxes to Edmonton but expect good transit hahaha. I’m downtown every few days. Live just outside of it. It’s awesome. And will only get better as we stop subsidizing sprawl and forcing all taxpayers to cover the bill of suburban freeloaders. St. Albert and Sherwood park need to be tolled. Parasitic impact to our city. Couldn’t exist without Edmonton, but don’t contribute to Edmonton’s taxes.
