Edmund was a very close friend and we had some great times together. In the early eighties we hung out and he used to come over to my house on Moorpark Street where we used to laugh most of the time and just plainly hung out talking about all sorts of things. Edmund had this great laugh that I used to always joke with him, just to hear him laugh. I found out a couple years ago he had passed away. We both moved on losing contact. I will always remember my friend Edmund. - - - JE

I WAS SO IN LOVE WITH HIM.... ME AND MY SISTET HAD THE WHOLE FAMILIES PICTURES ALL OVET OUR WALL...WE ALSO BOUGHT ALL THERE ALBUMS AT LEAST 5OR 6 TIMES, DON'T ASK WHY WE JUST WRRE AND WILL ALWAYS BE SYLVERS FANS.... 😍
This is a wonderful tribute. Edmond was very talented and had an awesome voice. The entire Sylvers family was amazingly talented and beautiful. But the Jacksons had the backing of The Motown Corporation and Michael was exceptional.
Happy Heavenly Birthday to a great entertainer gone much too soon but never forgotten. Your music will live on forever Rest in peace Mr. Edmund Sylvers
My best friend and I met them all twice in Ft Lauderdale Fla !! Danced with them all until the next show !! They asked us to stay for the second show front row seats !! SUCH WONDERFUL MEMORIES! MY BEST FRIEND HAS PASSED AS WELL AS EDMOND SAD 😥 but MEMORIES I WILL NEVER FORGET !!
Yes he is. His kids are very talented as well. I saw them on youtube, he has 9 or 11 children per his kids. They are singers, actors and producers. Very good. 💖🙏🏾He was handsom indeed.
Edmund was extremely handsome. Gone way too soon! His kids are beautiful, the oldest one looks just like him. They all look like Edmund in some form or another, whether it's the eyes, eyebrow, mouth or nose he had strong genes! RIP Edmund, I guess God needed you more.
THEY DON'T HAVE MUSIC LIKE THIS ALL NO TALENT AUTO TUNE CRAP I THANK GOD I. WAS BORN IN 1972 WITH REAL MUSICIANS AND MUSIC AND THE HANDSOME EDMOND RIP BABY BOY❤🙏
LEON SYVERS THE III, WAS ONE OF THE BEST PRODUCERS EVER!!! When I was trying to get into the biz - I had hoped he'd produce some cuts for me, him and Nidra Beard of Dynasty. Loved his work with Shalamar and The Whispers.
Hey carterboy66 I totally agree with your comment. I have sent TV ONE a request to do a show about the Sylvers on Unsung. Maybe they will listen to the fans
This group was my absolute favorite as a little kid. I was born in 1965. It really does hurt to know that Edmond passed on. Edmond, your sisters are sooooo beautiful and your brothers are sooooo cool!!! Your memory lives on...............................
Great performer when it comes to Edmund Sylvers, but after he went solo, maybe its just me but he seemed to be not as happy anymore, not having his family beside him. If he wasn't as happy that says even more about this man, family meant more than anything.
I did not know that he died until a few months ago. Boy was I on the late show. I am so sorry to hear about that. The Sylvers were so talented and I loved that they wrote and produced their own stuff.
I LOVED The Sylvers and The Jacksons but overall The Sylvers presence, harmony and writing..hands down. Cry of a Dreamer, I Know Myself, etc But The Jacksons had the secret weapon..MICHEAL and JERMAINE.. The Sylvers were TIGHT and held their own very well. Lets not even get into the Five Statirsteps... RIP Brother Edmund
Thanxs for the tribute "RIP" EDMUND!..I remember I wanted to be like them and have them as my brothers and sisters and be in the group!.They seem to be a tight knit close loving family! ..and I would wear jumpsuits like they did and have a big afro..those were the dayz! The Sylvers too me were and always the bomb! and I would take them over the Jacksons anyday!
I am going to settle this argument. Olympia Sylvers was so fine you can take Janet, Rebbie & Latoya roll them into one beauty ball and they still couldn't touch Olympia. And you know this Mannn!!
Actually Foster produced "Come Give Your Love To Me" for Janet (that was her second hit after Rene/Angela produced "Young Love"). Charmaine Sylvers and Glen Barbee wrote the song for Janet. Foster and Charmaine also had a hand in writing some of Shalamar songs (1980-1983).
Very sorry to hear about his passing My Condolences to the Family his Legacy lives on God has another angle Countiue to Rest in perfect peace Edmund Sylvers
The Sylvers were always Super talented. The Jacksons are too, but Michael was DRIVEN! He was fanatical about his music. Whenever he was counted out, hr resurrected his career by sheer force of will and LEARNED how to play the media. Decades after the 60s and 70s, so many people think of that era of music as THE MOTOWN ERA. It's clearly a misnomer but Motown infiltrated the public consciousness so thoroughly. with television, marketing, promotion, branding, great music, magazines, fan clubs, and it was impossible to not get swept up into it all. And MJ took it all to many levels beyond that. Remember, before SHAKE YOUR BODY DOWN TO THE GROUND, the Jacksons were considered OVER. If THE SYLVERS had a backer like Berry Gordy they would have been Super Stars. I have ALL the Sylvers early stuff and went to their stagr performances here in L.A. They are great performers. They just weren't as POSSESSED as MJ.
I wonder who convinced him (if it wasn't his idea) to wear those jeans. He never needed to do that. He automatically had our attention...so extra emphasis didn't need to be put "there" he never dressed like that when he was with his family.
oh my lord my heart is racing. I grew up in this area where you got good secular and gospel quality music.I don't know what this stuff they r doing 2 day!!! I was madly in love with Edmund Slyvers. IN fact all those Slyvers Brothers were fine ! fine! fine! I remember when Edmund had a long love relationdhip with singer Freda Payne .yea she was much older!!!I was hotter than some grease on the stove. But I still Love you Edmund I got over it.cryed at your passing!!! RIP Edmund!!!! Enayb!!!
Edmund Sylvers was the lead singer of the group "The Sylvers." At age 47, he would succumb to lung cancer in 2004, following a 10 month illness. The Sylvers hits include: "Boogie Fever," and "Hot Line."
I LOVE U Edmund,Rest In Paradise Baby...U Will Always B Forever Mine An I Will Always B (FOREVER YOURS) Although It Will Take (TIME) For GOD To Help Ease My Pain Of Losing U! I'm Sad That U Had To Leave Me,U Will Always An Forever B In My Heart,U Will Never Leave My HEART...Rest Peacefully My LOVE.
Lisa Mcgee I found out that I look it up on the Google search, that his son Jeremy Sylvers who played on the movie Child Play 3, when his son played on the movie he was younger and he got older when he looked just like his handsome dad 😍🥰😊
I'm shocked. I'm scrolling through songs, and I see this tribute to Edmund Sylvers. I never knew he went on till now. God bless his soul and his family. Great performer.

@@f.graham8840 he was laid back and friendly, when I first met him I was out walking to the store across the st and he was riding a bike ,w a uniform coming from work .he struck up a conversation and told me who he was (idk how we got on the subject of music) very humble . Definitely a legend .and come to find out just last year ,I ran into this guy who was a client of mines who I sold merchandise too, come to find out that was his father! Talking about a small world. Might be a interview in the works . Idk we will see. Anyway I will see Edmund and never knew, never seen the man brag etc .was a low key genuine guy and from the talks of it he knew his music .. may God grant ease on the family from this tremendous lost. 🙏🏿
@@blackistheword7 Wow, you painted that picture so vividly. Thank you! I’m so glad to know that he was a nice person. Others tell me he had a great sense of humor too lol. Was he married at that time?
I just wanted to marry him and have all his babues....my bedroom wad full of pictures of him and all his family.....my wanted to be in laws... RIP. Edmund
Nona...a lot of us adored him. It's always a great thing when you read that (whatever celebrity) someone we admire has a good reputation. I just wonder what happened in his life (wish he'd written a book/bio) to take him to the East coast and the events leading up to his death. I was and still am very hurt that he died and the way he died. They say Lung Cancer (any Cancer really) is a horrible way to go. It makes me sad when I think about (just found out recently) that he died. I can imagine any female that would have been with him...was so lucky. I know old girl Freda Payne had a ball... I'm jealoussssss....LOL!! Just kidding. I just don't know if I could have a man that fine.... SMH....!!!
And what's great about Leon is that even if he had NEVER produced anyone, he's still a HELL of a bass player with very distinctive and easily recognizable style...yet you don't see write-ups in BASS PLAYER about him. As a bass player myself, I can definitely tell you that his lines are probably the TRICKIEST from that era. "And the Beat Goes On" by the Whispers is obviously his crown jewel.
Agreed....and thats what sold me on that Whispers track. It was that heavy bass line. And since then, I was hooked on it, and new it was him cause he has a distinctive sound and rhythem.
wow i love the sylvers and although i love them i wish i had appreciated them more see see how we do we need to focus more on the appreciation than the depreciation it comes and goes but when its all said and done what we will always wish we had loved more and appreciated more what will u do what will u do tomorrow
First I wana say edmund my heart aches to have learned about the deaths of u an your brother christopher!it took me awhile to stop by this page I'm not gona press like cause I never wanted to have to have to like a tribute,GOD will have to heal my heart for losing u! an I will always keep u in my heart an prayers an u will always b my heart an I am forever yours,so keep resting peacefully my love
This is a great vid. I can go on and on selecting the comparisons between the Sylvers, more specifically Edmund and Foster, and The Jacksons (Micheal. I believe they had some of the same prodiucers that the Jackson 5 had.
