He is describing the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, this song has been released a long time ago and nothing has changed. You need to check out zlatna dolina by Edo Maajka, and btw Edo has no bad songs every single one of them is a gem.
when this song came out, some of the press here in Serbia ran stories about how Edo is an extremist, how this song is about hating Serbs, and that propaganda got so loud that i just had to hear the song and make up my own mind... I been listening to his stuff ever since... love and respect from Serbia, fuck the war pigs and nationalists
Edo Majkaa is the greatest lyricist in the region of ex Yugoslavia. that's just a pure fact and no one can't deny that. when he starts to rap, he is so engaging we can't even rap along. you can just sit and listen, that's all. he's one of those artist that is loved by bosniaks, croats, serbs, montenegrins, all.
You need to check Mahir & Alma from Edo, probably the best song from Edo. Much love to u guys! Edit: Also check Dubioza Kolektiv and There Is from Smoke Mardeljano
The line about chain and ring and Sava is amazing. I get chills every time because my father's house was destroyed in war, but the foundation was still there. ❤️
@Diiina,I didnt know that with the chain and ring. But i know exactly what he means by Sava and when Seseljevci came to his Town. Edo was like me from Brčko. Every time I hear this song, I have to hold back my Tears.I hope that such a maddnes will never hapend again.Peace
@@ObradPopovic-cs8if Chain and ring is old Bosnian tradition of trowing it in foundation, and you cannot destroy the foundation, therefore you cannot erase a certain people existence in one place.
No song ever made was better at describing situation in Balkan then Mater vam Jebem. It was true before it was made, when it was made, now and it will still relevant 50 - 150 -1000 years from now. The beat is eternal as well. Pure fucking masterpiece.
Guys, Edo is the best Bosnian rapper, his storytelling is literally out of this world, the easiest Balkan's top 5 ! P.S. I would love you to react on: Edo Maajka - Prikaze LD Pistolero, Don Dada, Sky Wikler - Duplo Ludji Mlata - 33 Stil Infamous IRS - 100 godina One Shot - Lice meduze RMX DNK Smoke Mardeljano - Korov Brut, Infamous IRS - Videćeš
I think it was a 2002 or 2003 when i heard this man for the first time, he changed my mindset, he changed the course of my life, he changed everythink, my son and Edo had the biggest impact on my life, they both made me better person...love for both of them😁
every time i hear this it brings tears to my eyes. Here he tells a very sad story that took place in Bosnia in the 90' and in which situation the people were brought now.
@ajdinpugonja,no bro its not like that. Those who search for the Truth will find the Truth. Those who are aweke will look for the Truth by them selfs, not beliving the media propaganda.I dont for whole Bosnia, but in nordeast Bosnia noone will hate you who ever you are,no mather wich town Brčko, Tuzla,Bijeljina.Yes there are some Sheeps who belive in that propaganda that our politicians spred.I dont wach news for years, why should i,its the same story over and over again. As a Serb I have to tell you that our media is so controled by Vučić and Dodik, next I expackt is:Vučić and D.dick jump out of my Fridge. Do you think all Serbs are like Dodik? for me he is a disgrace to be called a Serb.Love yours respect others, and you cant go wrong.
yo if you could just understand the complexity of the lyrics, you would than know that this is poetry that should be teached at history class. im glad that you guy found the mother of Balkan rap Edo Maajka and you recognise him as such. i love you two, subscribed. cheers from Croatia mi mateys, heres a hint: Stoka - Lekcija
Сконсонс I'm genuinely delighted and amazed by your hip hop curiosity drive! Dissecting lyrics made by Edo - I consider most delicate & emotive operation on open Balkan hearts. One would understand all the darkness and misery we went through for last 30 years much better by listening Edo than researching news files etc
Edo Maajka is the best Balkan raper OF ALL TIME! Please give "Jesmol sami?" a listen. Its another beat by Koolade who is a balkan production legend. Coby is the Alchemist to Koolades Dj Premier.
I wish you guys could 100% understand him. The way he is cyphering words is something that cannot be replicated. If I hat to chose how he paints pictures with words, it reminds me of NY state of mind by Nas
He is so smart! This last scene with ground and baby is everything! I'm the one sending that money for the country ( in Serbian is the same ground and country) .. Greetings from Germany!
Edo Maajka i Saša Antić(TBF) Sve prolazi. I wouldn't even dare to touch that beat, Edo is riding it. If you need translation I can do it. Please check it out. Love from Croatia.
Cool review! Edo Majka is a cultural legend on balkan. His beats are so dope, and his rap skills are legendary. Embedding this type of lyrics sure not easY. Keep it up guys - respect!
probably my favorite hiphop/rap song from balkans for me, always keep coming back to it, has edge like no any other track, dudes a beast If i was you next one id check is colonia feat shorty - jos jedan zagrljaj, its much diff vibes, less edgy and aggro
i listen Edo since 2000 's...so i can tell you that he is inspiration to all little younger 90's children that have PTSD in family (because of war ) and that only we can understood lyrics about corupptiionn and everything for 20+ years now...he is real OG from streets ,he know how its feels to be hungry or witout money , not some new degeneration 😅
Respect guys for this work. In his song are true strong msg and not the solit shit about money, drugs, cars and chiks. I like all of his first album songs
La Bla,Edo,Stupni,Ren,SRS,Tram 11,Elemental,Nered&Stoka,Alex,Bahattee - Grafiti (2002.) React on this YOU NEED TO HEAR THIS GUYS.. imagine all best croatian rappers in one song, some of them you already reacted on.. (Stoka, Tram 11 etc.) Real art right there!!
U Bosni je problem što svi mislimo da se negdje tamo nešto dešava i to je kao trend? Ne dešava se nigdje ništa, svako od nas je trend i svako od nas je bit sebe i svog postojanja. Edo majka big respect!
This is a pure 10 my black balkan brothers and you know it ;) Listen to "sve prolazi" next if you wanna chill and get to know Edo better in his later years.
dobar sa likirkom al nit blizu od najboljih , ima jacih . svaka cast njemu, textovi razvaljivaju, muzika mu ne bas , al po meni je u top 10 al nije medu vrhom , osim sa lirikom
I will explain a little bit The last lines of the song so you can understand it better In Bosnia when we build a house it is a tradition to put your neckless or ring in to the foundation, something that has personal value and financial also. The reason is that the people who live there have prosperity and success in there lives. Also we put our fraction of our soul there so where ever we go that will always be our home. Sadly first nacional fanatics in the war wanted to repel os from our home now after the war the same politician who are nacional fanatics are repelling us because they steal our money of our county for there benefits and we must go elsewhere to earn for our families. The reason why he screams " Mater vam ... " Is that no matter what you do you will never repel us from our home And that is the point of the song in my opinion. Greetings from Bosnia and Herzegovina You have also "Za mirzu" great storytelling song about how he talks with his friend who went out of his country to earn for life
Sorry for correcting you,but why he is screameng Mater vam jebem(i fuck your Moms),is for thos Nacionalist.Asking them why do we have to Kill each others?
I grow up in fukkin after war hood weapons everywhere with Edo Majka songs on fucking tape carryng knife after listening "Saletova osveta" song acting tuff at age of 13 hahah!! Live and respect to u guys for all what u are doing!! Sarajevo hardcore
Hello BRAĆO! Edo Maajka je car! SLUŠAJ MATER❤ ! P.s. This song is about life in Bosnia and Hertzegovina and how NATIONALISM is making LIVING HELL life in Bosnia and to the people who live in Bosnia*,there are always tensions so much so that is like at a brink of WAR! P.p.s. Uvijek se ježim na ovu stvar od Ede Maajke* Pogađa me kao da sam rođena u Bosni i najrođenija BOSANKA,a nisam.... Respect from Croatia❤
This man has very big balls because he made this song and because of that he has huge respect from all 3 sides of the warring people of the former Yugoslavia (because only they know (or don't know) how deep the rabbit hole is).
The song itself is his own perspective on the state in the Balkans at that moment. Edo, as someone who was a war refugee, witnessed Šešelj's death squad entering his city of birth as a teenager, like most of the people back at the time. "Mater vam jebem" is more of a expression of disappointment and personal anger in Balkan language, and to understand this song, you need to also understand the narrative of someone who witnessed war as a young kid who later on in life is battling with his mental scars and memories of it. I believe it's incredibly hard to understand what's hiding behind "Mater vam jebem", but it's mostly universal. Also, at the end of a video, where he's holding a baby in his arms, it's his own artistic signature which tells us why he's disappointed in the Balkan society, because he knows and obviously deeply understands the mentality behind Balkan's culturology and history. I had an honor and privilege too meet him in person when I was 13 years old and his music seriously shaped my life and the way how I'm thinking for almost 16 years now. Also guys,I have to get you credit and massive respect for at least trying to understand what he was talking about in this song and for keeping it real. I can also wholeheartedly recommend you his whole album "Balkansko a naše" (my personal favorite from that album is "I dalje slušam" which was produced by Koolade, who is even bigger badman than Coby). Once more, huge respect for you guys and I couldn't imagine better morning for myself than listening to Edo and watching you guys dissect the video itself on this day :D Keep up with great work and in me you have a follower for life :D
