Nice comparison! It'll be very interesting to compare KAVALAN ex-Bourbon with Edradour 10-12 natural cask bourbon .

Another great face-off! I especially love the Edradour expressions. I did pick up a bottle of the Kavalan Soloist Sherry Cask (2016) and it was like treacle--over the course of a year it just barely opened up. I'll need to try another one!

The Kavalan is such a storm of flavors that I usually add quite a bit of water to see how it changes and what flavors rise up. Edradour is not available here at all, Norway is apparently not an interesting market for Signatory.

Wow Allan....95! I have the Edradour 12 Ibisco 2008 and love it. It is super strong flavor profile and some may not like the strong character. Ralfy gave it 92 so that says alot. I just got mt first bottle of Kavalan Virgin Oak but saving opening for a special occasion. I want to get this one now and the KAVALAN SOLIST VINHO BARRIQUE but their so darn expensive!...Oh well they say you only live once.........Thanks for this great match up review!

Great review! I tried a bottle of Edradour 12yo decanter cask #31 which is a sherry bomb I like, I'm looking forward to compare it with a Kavalan Solist Oloroso Sherry cask one day.

I’ve got the Kavalan Solist sherry 2012 Cask #S120621040A and Edradour 12 2009 and although they’re both fantastic, it’s an easy win for the Edradour. I just acquired the 2010 edradour 12 and can’t wait to try it

Hi Alan, do you know anything about the Edradour 12 SFTC Madeira cask? Is it fully matured in Madeira wine wood or just finished?

Would not have thought to do these two together. Love the Edraour, my Whisky of the year 2019. Only had a 200ml bottle of the standard Solist sherry cask CS. Cheers Alan

@@gman5986 did not have them around at the same time. From memory the Edraour would be on top I found the Kavalan to be pretty harsh and had to put the 200ml bottle into a 750ml bottle and let it sit for 3 weeks before it calmed down enough to really taste it properly. The Edraour was a go at the neck pour.

Alan have you tried the 2008 Edradour 12 Sherry Ibisco decanter? If you have, how does it compare to the 2006. On the fence about pulling the trigger. Watching from Australia.

Thats the one I have. Fantastic but not a mild smooth Glenfarclas 25. This is in your face and makes you pucker as you sip it. Super strong cask influence which I personally love.
