Great review Alan. Here is my list: Islands - Ledaig 18 Lowlands Daftmill Speyside - An Cnoc 24 Highlands -Glengoyne 25 Campbeltown - Springbank 18. Islay - Ardbeg 19 Traigh Bhan (or Port Charlotte 18)
As usual, excellent reviews. For me, from Campbeltown, I’d probably have to go with SB12CS if “there can be only one” - I love cask strength whiskies, each batch is a little different, it was my 1st Campbeltown bottle, and all of them I’ve had were excellent. Though the ones I chase the hardest are the Longrow Reds. Unlike SB12CS, I haven’t loved EVERY Longrow Red I’ve tried, but LR Red 13 Chilean Cab Sav remains one of my all-times
That Benromach 2009 Batch 1 is fantastic! I still remember that I thought it smelled like smoked salami sausage when I first opened my bottle. I later had a 2009 batch 2 (sample), which didn't give me that same sensation. I'm always keeping an eye out for the 2009 batch 1 in auctions. Great pick!
No peat bro? What gives? How could you live the rest of your days with no peat? you had Islay as a low hanging fruit and you still went for the Bunna, I don't get it.
@@thewhiskyfriend Just recovering from a nasty bout of Covid but otherwise ok. Waiting for my sense of smell and taste to fully recover before I can enjoy a dram again. Hope all is good with you Alan
Thanks for reviewing this one Alan. Up front the batch I'm most interested in so far (refill bourbon).... so fingers crossed I'll find it. Slàinte mhath
Hi Frank, just saw one in the wild in the Woudenberg shop. Think you can also find it in your region. And if you want it you can also mail Woudenberg, ask for Pieter and say my name 😄🥃
Alan I am a Bourbon cask lover and I adore this Kilkerran expression! I have 2 bottles and it's spectacular!! I am all about Bourbon and Peat these days!! I can't say enough about this fabulous beauty! NAS scotch whisky is often a huge hit for me! Kilkerran is my favourite Campbelltown scotch!! No question at all!! Peat, so delicious, sweetness, meats - so damn good! The coastal maritime peat grabs me in - in a massive way! Gorgeous colour! Oily and sublime!! My score is a 90/100 but we are close my friend!! Have an awesome day Alan!! :-)
longrow peated was widely available here in Spain before pandemic. Now like every other springbank except maybe the blended campbeltown loch it has vanished from every store. A real shame.
All good Christine currently editing a couple of whisky battles the will be going out to patrons soon and out to you tube over the next couple of weeks....hope your good too....
Great review Alan, I only wish we could get it here for the equivalent of 40pounds! The only supplier here in Melbourne Australia has it for a whopping $185 !
@@thewhiskyfriend I did that a few years ago . Bought 2 of the 2022 release bottles. Ended up costing me $165/ bottle after shipping and import duty. I paid originally 37 pound’s per bottle! But the charges just killed it.
Sounds nice, Alan, and I agree the batch variation with this one should not be a problem. I refuse, however, to pay the contrived scarcity/local gouging mark-up for this one. It's almost never on sale in nz but when it is (late last month, maybe once-twice/year?) it's ~UKP67, ~67% higher than your 40 quid. That's also 38% higher than the local price for Longrow Peated... which also is almost never on sale other than ballots but at least the gouging on it is rather less. In the CL case it's possible the single retailer that was selling it here made the mistake of getting it via an "intermediary", I didn't ask them. I say "mistake" but it did all sell out...
Seeing this in the states…starts around $75 but seeing it go on offer for $50-$55 and it’s definitely an all day buy at that price IMO Thx Alan!…pays to be the Whisky Friend 😉
