My first visit to Shanghai was in October 1978 with a group including those who were asked to critique students at the Shanghai Music Conservatory.
Western Classical music was barred in China from 1966 to 1976.
The scenes shown in my video also reflect a Shanghai before Pudong when looking across the river from the Bund revealed no development. Plus what video from the late 70's early 80's could be complete without the sounds of the Shanghai Peace Hotel Jazz Band. (reedit June 16 2023)
