This was a huge improvement over the last teaching video (Not that the last one was bad, this was just much better). The breakdowns on why Jun was taking the talents that he was taking, where the others talents would be good and why was extremely informative. The choice to have no talking while you had writing on the screen was great. It allowed me to pause and take notes, as well as ensuring that the proper information was passed on. I heard Jun say it then it came up in a concise written form. This portion was really good. Fan's portion with the breakdown of the mistakes was pretty good as well. I've watched a lot of Not Paradox and Nubkeks trying to get better, they do good work especially back when nubkeks would take viewer games and break down their screwups. But this; showing mistakes and really digging into them, what the mistake was, how it went horribly wrong and how to do better was so instructional. watching the game initially I really didn't se that what Dehaka did under fort was so wrong or why. Really, thank you for this. Please keep these up and If it is possible with video flow and such, expanding that talent rundown and why method to more of the in game decisions would be really good.

The other day Fan said something like "double soak and take camps on cooldown and you will easily get plat, maybe even diamond." And the implication is that if you really really really take that advice seriously, then if you add anything more to your play you can probably make high diamond/master. I knew he was serious, but I still had a "yeah but it's not thaaaaat simple always" thought derailing me. But I started making it central to my play, instead of something I do alongside other "equally important" things. And my win rate just skyrocketed. I think if you really really really truly take it to heart that excellent macro is the foundation of everything else, you can never make the mistake this dehaka makes. This happens a lot to new players in SC2 or other RTS for example. People watch the best players and see cool micro, interesting builds, clever drops and cheeses and interesting comps and there's so much to learn. And all that theory makes gaming fantastic truly. And then they try emulate all these different pieces and it's completely the wrong mindset, because they don't realise that these players are top of the game precisely because they can do all that stuff at a high level in parallel with having 99.9999% near perfect macro. And if they did all that stuff with 85% version of excellent macro they'd be random unks instead of pro players. The same is surely true for hots. I am going to aim to be perfect at macro, make that the mindset every game, even when it seems simple or that I "know" what to do. And then these mistakes can't happen.

@@nitroyetevn Big problem is that unlike WC3 or other RTS, you are not alone to determine if you win the game or not. Literally the number one reason of my losses and my plat rank is that I have AT LEAST 1 dehaka in every game, if you dont, then you have a chance to win. When you explain that in chat to tell em what they should do, then you start typing and waste time and they dont listen anyway because you have 2/3 of their damage. So they say: "Shut up, you have no damage, I have double your damage" And you say: "Mate you died 7 times" And he anwsers before you finnally block him:"Of course, i don't have help from team" Literally 60% of my games if I solo queue I understand you can solo carry and reach master but i can't solo carry 60% of the games

Started out as comedic value to the max. Jun screams with background Fan screams... always funny ha ha. Then the 4th man talents kick in afterwards and all of a sudden the mistakes and what not to do become crystal clear.... No one knows how to play global nowadays. Its totally a lost art. You should do a "how to" guide on globals @Fan .

This is exactly why I stopped playing with some old friends. They would team fight the entire game nonstop and would ignore macro and dive into unfavorable fights for objectives and act like it was my idea cause I said they needed to macro more and thought I meant die under objectives. When I tried to tell them they were wrong they would never listen and act like they knew it all because they knew how to play their characters so they assumed they were super good. Also they were ranked in league so they thought they were better than they were. So frustrating.

This game would be so much more fun to play and a lot less frustrating if more people understood the macro mechanics better - and if they understood that there is definitely a timing element of when you actually need to push a fight. Sometimes the most effective thing you can do is let the other team waste their time trying to fight you while you just avoid them and pull them away from the positions they need to be defending. For example, let's imagine a scenario on cursed hollow: the enemy team has a keep that's about to be destroyed by a siege camp and a Falstad on your team in the top lane, but 4 out of 5 of the enemy team goes down to the bottom of the map for a curse tribute objective that just popped. If the 4 people on your team (because Fals is top) go to that curse tribute too, the best move they can do most of the time is just poke the other team and keep delaying them from getting the objective until Falstad kills that keep, then once Falstad has killed the keep, he can fly (global) down to your team and you now have a 5v4 fight against the other team as well as a destroyed keep. The most frustrating thing about this game when you become a higher level player yourself, is that you can understand that these are the most effective things you can be doing, but all of that goes to waste when you have "pepega" teammates who constantly like to go do the worst possible things in those situations. You can be trying to do the right thing as a knowledgeable player by going off to soak another lane, but when you have 4 other teammates who have no idea how that works, and they like to go take 4v5 fights the whole time, then the whole idea of you going off to do the right thing quickly becomes the exact opposite. These mistakes from other teammates often force the knowledgeable player to have to try and rescue them from their bad decisions the whole game. People wonder why streamers or high level players get so mad, I think it's because this game gets more frustrating when you know more about the workings of everything in it. It becomes easier to see more and more mistakes from other players - and you can have a pretty good prediction for how things would have turned out if those teammates knew how to make the best of those situations, or even if they just didn't try to fight nonstop.

Hey Fan!! At 2:11 you advise that we should be pressing 'Q' on the blue heroes and 'W' on the red ones. Can you extrapolate upon that line of reasoning? Is there ever a circumstance where you would advise otherwise? I guess what I'm getting at is, if one takes Nature's Swiftness at 13, wouldn't they benefit from pressing 'Q" on the red heroes to gain extra move speed? I find that if I leave my solo lane and pop in to a fight at the objective and drop some extra Q's, it reduces the amount of time necessary to get back to my lane while my team fights for the objective, creating map pressure and value.

Love this Kind of Video... I think you should do more of this "Coaching-Videos"... I also think that many people nowadays lack soooooooo hard in Gamesense espacially in the way of Marco-Game... often enought I see the Enemy much better Teamfight-Comp than ours... (I mostly play Quickmatch)... Then I tell those Potatoes to just play the Macro game... get Camps, soak lanes and ONLY fight them If we have any kind of Advantage like Ganking one at a time or like 4v5 or so... what happens? SUUUUUUURE.... First 3-4 Min only Team"fighting" in middle by constantly feeding... and me getting pinged and flames cause I go to the Other Lane(s) to soak the XP *facepalm* Like you said ones in the Video with I think the Plat ETC with the "QW-Problem"... Some Potatoes doesn't want to get helped and don't understand a helping hand and good advise. Sure I'm no GM or Ex-HGC-Player like you Fan and Quickmatch for most people it's just like "jeah, wayne, winning is optional, just do whatever I want" (okay, for many people SL is the same just with a Draft before xD)... but I think even in QM you should have some kind of Will to win, or is my opinion on this to much tryharding? I don't think so ;) So I hope to see more of this "Educational" Videos of you Fan... maybe you have fun in Things like "Coaching" and just as an Idea: Maybe do like 1 or 2 Games a Stream where you replay some Games (maybe some you dind't play yourself) and explain what happens and give targeted advises... I know, you more like to Game and just uplaod it to YT, and this kind of Video takes more time to do... But I find them pretty good and I hope you do more of this ;) You've got a unique kind of explaining and I like it pretty much... not this "Yeah this happens and this wasn't that good cause of this"... it's more like "This sucker fucked up here cause he is dumb... he did this and throws cause of this and thats why he has a Micros-Brain and you lose the Macro Game" ^^ LOVE IT

Fan I know this doesn't have anything to do with the video but anyways, I usually play good double soak heroes and map control heroes and get top exp, I find that my comfortable place, but ever since picking up valeera/stealth heroes I find it hard to balance soaking with ambushing and hunting, is it just that my teammates should be doing that or is it just hunting after clearing a wave as much as possible? I honestly feel like greymane does both of these things really well but I've been enjoying val.

1:17 isnt this camp a time waste? cause its in the obj lane anyways and the enemy will clear it most likely without sending someone to another lane? Also you give them time to step up and get the first shitters for no reason.
@kelvinchiang3297
@kelvinchiang3297 4 года назад
i think it's still valuable. The enemy will still need to decide whether to do objectives or clear the lane (if they use abilities on lane they can't win fights, if they AA lane they wont clear it in time). Also, you can always fall back behind the camp if things doesn't go as plan during objectives. The best value is, if you manage to get the objectives you'll have team + camp + objective pushing at the same time.

Honestly, what happened in this game is probably my biggest pet peeve with randoms - the inability to look at your damn mini map, realize what your win and lose conditions are and the refusal to disengage when it's time to leave well enough alone. Those 3 things cost so many easy wins it's not even funny. I bet you've all been on the receiving end of a team that did all those things at least semi correctly and you're sitting there with your teamfight comp and they're just refusing to fight head on and constantly whittle down your structures while you sit there unable to do shit about it - so why oh why if you are in a position to do the same wouldn't you? Love this kind of content btw, Fan; the average player in any game is usually pretty badly informed on how to play the game at hand but I always had the impression that the HotS playerbase is especially crap at understanding the macro elements of the game, so it's greatly appreciated that you took the time to show a real life example of a textbook throw. Wouldn't mind to see videos like this!

Can you explain it in words Melinda? Thank you
@equestrianrosie
@equestrianrosie 4 года назад
@@thomasmetzinger8857 Let's see if I explain this correctly. The chart he displayed shows the percentage value of experience gained from Hero takedowns depending on your team's current experience level compared to the enemy team's current experience level. If both teams are the same level, for example level 10, then either team getting a takedown rewards 100% the current value of a takedown. They are equal. If the teams are NOT on the same level, let's say one team is level 10 and the other is level 11, suddenly takedowns reward DIFFERENT amounts of experience. If the team in the lead at level 11 gets a takedown, they are awarded only 95% of the standard experience for a kill. If the team that is behind, at level 10, gets a takedown, they are rewarded 110% of the standard experience for a kill. This difference increases as per the chart for each team experience level difference, to the extreme where if one team is ahead by 4 levels, a kill for them gives only 5% of the standard experience reward, whereas if the underdog team (the one down by 4 levels) gets a kill they receive 200% of the standard xp for a takedown. This mechanic makes it so that teams that get behind early in a game aren't completely overwhelmed and have very little realistic chance of catching back up. It allows for one very strategic team fight victory by the team that is behind on xp to suddenly catch up drastically. In theory this prevents as many players from disconnecting, throwing, or generally giving up as often, considering the game "over" because they got behind early. It also keeps the team that is in the lead on their toes, being more cautious about taking bad engagements, realizing that one bad teamfight even when greatly in the lead on experience can suddenly turn a game or at least even it out. TL;DR you receive more xp from getting a kill if your team is behind on xp level. you receive less xp from getting a kill if your team is ahead on xp level. this makes early game "snowballing" less likely to happen.
