he surged right after running into the other runner, opened a gap that decreased but never closed, and he blew it open again shortly after to run away with it!

He probably burned as many calories every 2 strides by turning his head to see everyone behind him as he did just running the race.

Why do these world 🌎 class runners carry their hands so high up on their chest ????? To me , they don’t look 👀 like they are using good body mechanics, although......... they are going fast as hell. I always understood to keep your arms relaxed, wrists down by your waistline, not up around your chest..... I’m amazed that they don’t tighten up halfway through the race carrying their arms so high and tight. Even at my level of running..... I don’t know of anybody who can run a long distance race at their performance speed, and carry their arms that high near their chest. These guys are sure proving my understanding of running.......wrong !!!!!!! Peace.

Ditto, my shoulders would fall off if I ran like that🙈 I don't know how they do it😂

They all seem pretty efficient to me, I mean kipchoge runs with his arms high ish and he has one of the best running forms...

They carry their arms high, but not tight. You can see that their elbows extend quite a bit with every footfall. And the last 3 laps or so, Cheserek's arms get lower and lower, till he sprints with them around his waist. So yes, arms around your waist does generate the most power, but they don't need that much power. 4:12 miles are easy for them! Pretty crazy.

Your arms don’t need to go that low if you do enough strength training to keep your body stabilized throughout any run
