Sorry to say Matt, but there's a fatal design flaw. If you spin the thing, the crew are going to be pulled towards the roof of the modules you've placed.

OMG Matt... I had no idea solar panels get weaker as you go farther and farther from the sun... I've been to Eeloo only once, and my solar panels had a LOT of difficulty to supply me with enough power. Now I understand my problem lol. Thank you so much for that XD

1:50 You need to pre-record your Oberth speech so you can just insert it into every single video where you explain it again lol. No one really explains _why_ it's a thing though. Your total energy is *PE + KE* , so after a burn your increased energy is *(PEf + KEf) - (PE0 + KE0)* . Since *PE0 ~ PEf* they cancel. So now you have *0.5m(vf)^2 - 0.5m(v0)^2* , which reduces to *0.5m(vf^2 - v0^2)* . Your engines always provide the same delta-v regardless of how fast you're already going, so let's say a burn gives you *dv* more velocity. This means that *vf = v0 + dv* . So now we have an increase of energy given by: *0.5m((v0 + dv)^2 - v0^2)* *0.5m(v0^2 + 2v0dv + dv^2 - v0^2)* *0.5m(2v0dv + dv^2)* *0.5m(2v0 + dv)dv* Notice the term *2v0* in there; this means your difference in energy (or energy gained) is related to twice your initial velocity!

Great video ma boi (I know I'm late) I think it would make more sense though to leave the lander docked to the airlock, so you can just transfer the kerbal to it. Then when you want to land, you undock, redock at the fuel tank, refuel and land. Then after landing and reorbiting you just redock at the airlock. It'd probably save a ton of fuel and time.

I love that you brought enough fuel that the lander can make 11 or 12 landings. IRL, it would be so much more scientifically interesting than one little landing. Provided, of course, that the lander engine was reliable! I almost forgot that little detail of real life. Anyway, my own plan for "Outpost Eeloo" includes a mining lander and a science lander for much the same reason, but it's a complicated plan and it's on indefinite hold.

Hey Matt, could you make a video of a single launch space station with the constructing part also recorded?

To dock, first select "locked" view to have a better idea of what is "up" an "down" etc when using RCS, then point the lander paralel at the station, then align them, and then aproach slowly

One thing that kind of sucks is that you couldnt get that consistent spinning motion to act as artificial gravity for kerbals onboard the ship, you can see a great example of something similar to this craft in the Martian movie, their Hermes craft shares the same ring structure. Great video Matt!

I get why you don't recommend downloading the craft file but I'm fairly new to KSP and want to learn how you did it. I promise I'll try to build my own as soon as I've pulled the download apart, flown (and crashed) it several times and arrogantly decided what could be better and then probably found it couldn't. Be better that is :-) Thanks.

Hey, did you know you can use mouse wheel on vectors on the manoeuver node for precise planing ?

You can technically dock the lander to the base to refuel- if its RCS is enough to right it afterwards.

here is a sub mate. recently got back into Kerbal after a year of not playing. Question though: I mounted nuclear engines on my big ship but they dont seem to be very powerful, even in space. Are they just weak and i need more or am i doing something wrong?
