You were so jealous of your friends for being able to choose between three starters. Little did little Scott know, in Yellow, he could get all three starters. And before little Scott grew up, he would never know, either because he quickly abandoned the pikachu needed to obtain two of them, and he didn’t like talking to rando npcs on the road. Instead he took the long way round and got red and blue for himself. Little Scott, big brain. Big Scott, challenge run brain.
Self-Destructing Hiker is actually a member of the Elite Four, but Bruno stole his spot by impersonating him and nobody could tell the difference, so the Self-Destructing Hiker was forced to live out the rest of his days in a cave angry at the world.
I think it's hilarious how Rock Tunnel has become a major sticking point in these runs. I remember that place feeling tedious and annoying in my casual runs.
17:50 Imagine having a fully evolved team, including a Jolteon, and your rival just comes in with an Eevee and wipes them all out. Not only that, but your Jolteon gets instantly knocked out without even landing a blow. Embarrassing.
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon why didn't you bee line toward mimic house out of lavender tunnel n Caledon then do the lavender split Night shade better than bide
@@nautgamingnautgaming9949 How about it being a rock move like smack down. It grounds flying pokes. Tombstoner could be a 60 power rock move with a 100 crit on ghosts or could be priority and always goes frist.
4:59. Technically Eevee is officially an amalgamation of many things. It was apparently designed to be a creature that you've seen before, but only caught a glimpse of. An animal in the corner of your eye, or running away from you quickly, obscured by the tall grass. Was it a dog? A Cat? A bunny? A fox? It's officially the "it's something, but I don't entirely know what" Pokémon. I suppose that's why it's the DNA Pokémon; it was made to be a mixture of many things and not one thing in particular.
I understand they wanted to utilize the new day/night cycle and friendship mechanics, but I always felt like Umbreon and Espeon should have evolved using the moon stone and sun stone respectively. Plus XD Gale of Darkness had to introduce new items to evolve them because the day/night mechanic didn't exist in that game.
I really like that you employed "dirty tactics" in the early game. I mean we all know that you could always resort to leveling up so it's nice to see the power of sand attack for a change.
watching this live and i completely forgot that his name was Scott, so when i looked over to chat and saw "hey Scott have you thought of doing a gen two hopping run" somehow almost thought they were talking to me.
@@nathanandsugar5252 Gen 1 was clearly put out before it was ready and somehow it never really clicked that was the case, despite clues like Lick not working against Psychic mons and Brock being the *rock* gym leader, but the Jr Trainer has a *mono ground* pokemon.
@@myfault.5735 don't forget accuracy glitches(256 miss) also affect pokeballs and probably other accuracy checks, lack of pkmon and moves, no really good fighting moves, flying moves, bug moves, dragon moves, rock moves, ghost moves (
My wife's definitely an Eevee girl vs Pikachu. She's got everything from Eevee bed sheets, coffee mug, to (TMI) undies. 😂 Great run here Scott! Ghost types are definitely a challenge for the little guy.
I was thinking that if the moon stone could turn Eevee into anything, it would become an Umbreon, which evolves from Eevee by friendship at night and is able to learn moonlight
They changed Leafeon and Glaceon to stone evolutions. They could easily do the same for Espeon and Umbreon. I find it funny that as a kid, I assumed they were stone evos since it was the same gen they introduced the Sun Stone.
During my playthrough of Pokemon Yellow, I was also doing a Pokemon Trainer Challenge, where I used the same team as Red in Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal! Eevee kind of felt like the weak link in my team, but he was still helpful now and then. His moves were Body Slam, Double Team, Bite, and Quick Attack.
Man, every time you mention the wrapping lass, I think you mean rapping. And now all I can picture is her Bellsprout dropping some sick beats while your Pokémon sits there and is like :c As always, loving your playthroughs! Can't wait to see the starters Vs video! GLHF on your next challenge and I can't wait to see what's next!
I love the little jokes you work to include in your videos. I might be a man-child, but the pp jokes never get old. I also really appreciate how thorough you are and even though you don't have to you aim to figure out how much you need to level up for full consistency. Really looking forward to those Kanto starters.
Seeing him use Sand Attack so much instead of going for the kill was painful. It's very much the same kind of trap as Hypnosis, so I was expecting that, but still... I'm impressed how much Scott has improved in the past couple years.
I've been taking a break from the sweaty games I exclusively play like League of Legends and Rainbow Six cause I've forgotten how to enjoy video games. Decided to boot up pokemon blue. I'm so glad I did. I discovered Jrose11 and more recently, you. I'm loving the content! I've been blasting through your catalogue as I overlevel every single pokemon and and waste one time use TMs. It's just like back in the day
Forgot to add: If you ever use Growlithe, dont forget to name it "Fox". Its red and fluffy, obviously a fox. I dont know why so many people confuse it with a dog.
I really liked one of Jrose’s videos where he beat the game with Bruno’s team. I would love to see a video where you beat Yellow with Lance’s Red/Blue team.
I was hoping you would do this since the Pikachu run. I want to see if Bruno can beat you this time, since I'm not sure how helpful Mimic will be for him and I feel like Hitmonlee in particular should be a major roadblock for the poor cat-fox-thing. Also interested in seeing what level you need to reach to beat Agatha, since I just looked at her Yellow team, and yikes. After watching, that was a lot easier than I expected it to be. Especially Agatha, first try with mostly Lick is amazing, even if getting a consistent victory was very difficult. I really underestimated the doge when I said it must've been worse than Pikachu. Also, 5:10 The moon is a giant rock, so it should give a Rock-type Eeveelution.
Man Eevee... who knew?! It's actually a dog-racoon-cat-fox hybrid and everyone loves it. WHERE'S MY GHOST EEVEE?! WHERE'S MY DRAGON EEVEE?! WHERE'S MY STEEL EEVEE? And don't tell me "its stats and type split" nonsense, we all want it. Give it to us Game Freak!
Thank you as always for the video, Scott! And happy holidays to everyone, no matter what you celebrate, if anything! Now for today’s exercise, try some toe touches! Keep your back straight, and bend down as far as is comfortable; Don’t hurt yourself though! Count to 5, then back up! Do that 10 times and you should feel nice and limber! Don’t worry if you can’t bend too far, it’s still good for you, and you might be able to do more in time! Always remember, you have great potential within you, just like an Eevee!
Does anyone else fall asleep to Scotts Thoughts videos? I always put one on before bed but rarely finish it in one go because I usually drift off. Not sure why but its very soothing to me.
Fun fact, the established reason as to why there’s a surfing pikachu in the official Pokémon manga is that a created substitute double is less dense than water, and the main character’s pikachu learned to ride on the substitute over the water.
You likely won't see this but, thankyou for creating a channel of exactly what my mind thinks about at 2 in the morning..but that I can't be bothered doing..iv been binging these like crazy.
God damn it Scott! It’s because of videos like this that I have had to start doing my own random runs of Pokemon. I’m currently trying to beat pkm red with the lowest level team possible without picking the obvious choices. I’ve got a dewgong, parasect, onix, dodrio, ponyta and an electrode. I’m at the league and I my average level is 32!
Tbh I always envied the rival too. He got Eevee which is such a great Pokemon and can evolve into three different types so you can plan your team better with it. And we? Got stuck with Pikachu. I know it is the Mascot and all... but it is weak, frail and we even got denied to evolve it into a Badass Raichu...
I remember my yellow run. I traded my Pikachu to a friend and had said friend evolve him into a Raichu then trade him back to me. Now I had a decent starter to use.
My Pokémon journey began with Yellow Version. As a kid, I always insisted that my experience was tougher than all my Red/Blue games, but nobody ever believed me. Glad that I am now, as a 30 year old man, validated that my Pokémon journey began on a harder game. Glad to be proven right 🤣
honestly Eevee seems to have won a lot of matches by just playing with the opponent, playing with sand around exploding rocks, wagging its tail at playmates, licking the ghosts, copying tricks and lunging at what's left and it still got a better time than Pikachu.
I havent done content creation in forever on youtube. You kinda inspire me bro i may have to start it up again haha. Keep up the good work man love your vida
How’s this for a final moveset? • Mimic • Reflect • Rest • Body Slam/Toxic Mimic Sandslash’s Slash, Body Slam if need be, Reflect and Rest help maintain longevity, and Toxic is there in case Cloyster were to use Clamp, as it’ll be taking larger damage overtime. The problem is that if you go with Toxic, you may not be able to use that against Lorelei.
Fun fact since I'm playing the latest games in Japanese. Ethers are "piipii eido", or PP Aid. I trust I don't have to explain why this is funny. Unrelated but just interesting, the PokeBalls are called Monster Balls in Japanese, which seems... odd? You'd think they'd use the same word we have. I'm finding lots of cool stuff. Oreburg is called Iron City in Japanese, although they call it Kurogane, "black metal". Also Fantina is called Marissa/Melissa and I think that's a much nicer name than the goofy pun we got.
I hope you get to read this since I think this will help a lot with some of your playthroughs. Substitute might help make Agatha more consistent. Substitute is very weird in generation 1 as it won't protect you from status moves other than confusion but I still think it can be helpful in combination with rest to regain your health and prevent the opponent from confusing you. It also prevents the opponent from using status lowering moves like sand attack or tail whip which can help a lot. I think substitute will only really help with pokemon with limited move sets as it can't do much without rest as you will likely hemorrhage hp. But the AI likes using useless moves or status moves, I think there are a lot of opportunities you can use to set up substitute. It can also be used to set up against powerful pokemon like Rhydon to block a potentially devastating attack or stall till it does something stupid. For example against Agatha you can set up a sub before she has a chance to troll you and since Agatha's AI is random she will likely waste turns even if she happens to hit with hypnosis first turn. Looking at the first gengar the only way it can hurt you is mega drain which probably won't break the substitute giving you a good opportunity to use it. I hope this strategy works for some pokemon that struggle against Agatha, sand attack, or earthquakes. But be warned do NOT use substitute on an exploding pokemon or Lance. Hyper beam will not need to recharge and explosion will prevent the opponents pokemon from fainting if you have a sub up.
Substitute is just very slow to obtain from a real time and in game time perspective. But it is certainly a massive consistency boost for most frail Pokémon. Especially in this situation where the first Gengar isn’t particularly offensively powerful. I used Subsitute in my butterfree vs beedrill follow up, it was really good there.
Maybe someone's already said, but in Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness you start with an Eevee and it uses a Sun and Moon Stone to evolve into Espeon and Unbreon.
Hey Scott. I just watched a video 'was it good red/blue' about how broken first gen was. It's got a bunch of Easter eggs and fan theories that I think you'll like. The rattata one really spun me out and I never really realised it.
8:24 Oof, I can't believe Eevee is having so much trouble here... Actually, I kind of can, since Pikachu would be able to defeat Misty's Gym trainers easily. I guess when all you have is tackle, tail whip, sand attack, and growl, you don't have a lot of options. Thank goodness for Body Slam, though.
So I finally started watching some Jrose11 vids, and I gotta say I enjoy watching your runs more. I just like how your HUD shows the moves/move-set, game timer, base stats. It makes it look waaaaay better. I still watch Jrose11, buuut just saying I prefer watching your vids 👍
Jrose11 is like this Moltres, ya know? He just went in and started out big. And then we have Scott who started out as this little Charmander, then evolved as he leveled up and turned out to be a Charizard that has more usability than the bird he might have looked up to at some point.
@@karotconcarne3325 holy shit! That's actually a really good analogy 👏👌 I just watched Jrose Tauros run. I was not expecting the ending to go the way it did, I'll just say that much.
bide saved my indirect damage only run. i started with a koffing that knew poison gas & smokescreen, thankfully theres no poison types to fight before brock in yellow but you need it almost immediately afterwards to beat an ekans and some weedle on the way to mt moon. I used it out of necessity at first, but by the end of the game weezing with bide was still one of my most dependable pokemon. even if bide often did nothing, I often had to resort to doing nothing during my turns anyway, to let the status afflictions do their job, so bide was sort of a nice insurance policy that helped conserve pp for other moves. and if I had leech seed set up, all the better.
@@grundgutigertv6170 mostly because I planned on using leech seed exeggutor instead for the psychic resistance. he and venusaur are the only ones who can learn it in gen1. also because I wanted an excuse to use koffing since he's normally not available in yellow
@@grundgutigertv6170 i also evolved my haunter into gengar so it could learn counter, which haunter cant learn but gengar can. during this run I discovered the confusion counter glitch, where if you use counter on a foe that hurts itself in confusion, counter will hit them for x2 confusion damage. just an interesting beside. gengar & magmar are the best pokemon for this though since they are the only ones who can learn counter & confuse ray
