In this video I talk about how to adjust the tension on your nano, and a few tips I've come across to make it a little less fiddly. I first quickly explain how scotch tension works, then talk about:
- the band that comes with the nano
- the band that comes with the nano with beads added to easily replicate a tension setting
- an alternative band that can hold smaller beads, and options for adding stretch
- a system with a rod you can turn to wrap the band around, similar to that which is found on most scotch tension spinning wheels
I still have indigo dyed blue nail tips, sorry!

Thank you for the tension mod ideas. I like the 3rd option. Will have to source some items for it.

thank you so much for this! I’ve successfully spun on a traditional wheel but the electric wheel has been a tough transition. 😫

Fascinating options.

Is there a video which explains to a novice how to feed the spun yarn into the orifice? I just discovered, by reading the Ravelry troubleshooting posts, that the Nano does not take the spun yarn from me but I should maintain tension for spinning and then feed it in? I have had the Nano since October and have tried every tension band fix and yet still haven't spun successfully. I've just discovered that take-up tension refers to winding onto the spool, not taking up the spun yarn. (I have learned to drop spin during this time, however.)

Would you be open to selling me one of your tension knob inventions?

What did you end up using to glue this on permanently? I printed the knob and its going to work great. But before I ruin the Nano, I want to be sure to use the correct adhesive. Thanks so much

I need clarification regarding your last option. Is it the white peg turning in the orange secured knob that tightens the tension? In your demo, it looked like both the orange and white knobs turned at the same time. I realize that the orange knob wasn't permanently glued on. How is working? I like that version if I can find the right thing-a-ma-jigs😊

The orange 'cup' wasn't moving with the white bar, the cup stayed put and the bar moved, allowing the cord to wrap round it.

Vampy, what size/type of spring did you choose for your tension? I've tried different ones. They are either too long, too wide, too tightly compressed. Thanks for your help.

I used 0.5mmx6x25mm extension springs. Shorter would have worked fine, as would slightly finer gauge.
