Stay strong Marietta. I almost stopped for the night at the Circle K Valero truck stop, i35 exit 15, Sunday night on my way to Kansas. I stopped in Springer OK exit 40. I feel your pain Marietta. My home was damaged by hurricane Hannah July 2020. Makes one humble and greatful for the blessings we have.

I remember surviving an F3 in Stillwater in 1990 with funnels less than a few hundred metres from the shrieking frame of my rented duplex with nowhere to hide safely with my young family - a mattress in the bathroom. Some homes were levelled and major damage from the multiple funnels. Some of the kindest people I know live in this very challenging location. Bless you All.

I'm so sorry to see this. But we in the Midwest are resilient and we take care of each other. You're all in my thoughts tonight.

How would you feel if you lost everything except the clothes you had on? Probably shocked, confused, hurt. These people are strong and I believe they will get thru this. I've been praying every night since this happened.

Our money should go to help the homeless victims of natural disasters, not all the free loading illegal moochers!!!!

True but also, maybe stop rebuilding in a zone that is known for tornado devastation.

I think point remains the same. What little excess funds we have should go towards families that may need to live in that area for work or personal reasons, rather than keep the influx of illegal immigration going with our excess (and non-excess) funds. If we don’t protect and support our current nation, then what’s the point of anyone coming to the US anyway?
@belindaward4226
@belindaward4226 Месяц назад
@@Targetlocked86em That would be difficult as these Twisters never take the same route. Close, sometimes by a few miles, but I've lived in this area for many years. When I lived 12 miles West of Ardmore, a Tornado seemed to come close every other year or so. Now it's as if the trend has moved a more easterly route. Just an FYI.😉

The entire midwest is subject to tornados. Should we not live in an entire section of the US? I live in Oklahoma and Marietta is not an area hit often. Plus usually rebuilding in areas were tornados hit usually the building codes are higher than required and most of us have a storm shelter or safe room. Property can be rebuilt with insurance. Life is what was saved with an entire day of our weather folks on TV following and tracking.

The tornado damaged cause five times more than hurricane damage.
@michaeldeierhoi4096
@michaeldeierhoi4096 Месяц назад
The damage caused by tornadoes is very focused except in long track tornadoes which can destroy several towns. But if you look at insurance claims the hurricanes cause far greater damage and often a lot more casualties as well. Hurricane Ian destroyed over 5000 homes and killed over a hundred people. That is one of the worst examples of the damage by a hurricane.

Sad local news was more interested in a marathon for those who passed at the bombing! I worked that bombing and I worry more about the living than the deceased. Channel 9 worst of all!

It never ceases to amaze me why people are willing to take the gamble to live in a zone of the US that risks total devastation every year. Looks like a bomb went off. Incredible destruction by one of nature’s most amazing phenomenons. Brave people for living in Tornado Valley.

I was living in California as a teen, and experienced an earthquake. I lived in Seattle, experienced an earthquake, and was terrified it would set the volcano off. Now I live in Ardmore, Oklahoma between Marrietta and Sulphur (Ardmore lost 5 homes and part of a school) Do you want to know why I would stay here? We get warnings!!! we have many ways to get them. We have excellent Meteorologists who let us know days ahead if there is even a possibility of Tornadoes! Radio, (After the storm our local stations were out of power.) Weather apps and so forth so yes, I am staying.

Every location has some type of natural disaster. Tornadoes are dangerous, but are very survivable if you pay attention and get to shelter. The media make it look way worse than it is. This particular swath was maybe a 1/4 wide.. Your gamble has incredible odds of not being impacted.

@KINGH4LO. Why don't you educate yourself about the wide part of the country that is vulnerable to tornadoes!?!? Most of the plains states, the Midwest and south are ALL vulnerable to tornadoes. That's a large part of the country and the reality is that most people know the risks of living anywhere in this region. But sometimes they get hit by a massive destructive tornado. No place is free of risk.

@michaeldeierhoi4096

So are you saying that the millions of people who live in this area are all dumb because they choose to live where tornadoes might strike?? What about Iowa and Nebraska which were also hit by tornadoes causing considerable damage. Are they all dumb too? The area where tornadoes occur in the eastern US amounts to tens of millions of acres. Are those millions of people all dumb?? This is all farm land and where do you think your food comes from?? 🙄
