what is the theory, which says surface impurities such as oxygen sulphur etc gets absorbed in [101`0] plane and the growth is predininant in A directuon When magnesium ,ce,la are added they react with surface active elements and removes them and the growth is in C direction. please brief on this theory.
Mg reacts with O and S to give birth to MgO and MgS which are dross. As the S level goes below a certain level in the metal nucleation is formed in the Nodular shape giving rise to Nodular or Ductile Iron. Hence S is very important in this reaction and conversion.
