Very impressive video. Great info, good watch. Liked the explanations on the how and why, which was digestible by newbies and experienced people alike.

Thanks for posting some vvt boost info. Very little out there.

Very interesting, good to see the effect of the VVT. So many ideas how the VVT works.

Some information I needed for my project! I want to swap my 2.3 ecoboost mustang for the B5254 engine, and maxxecu seems to be the best choice so far. I need to figure out how to run all of the can stuff on my car with this new engine

The Maxxecu has outputs streams for various Mustangs, depending on the year. :-)

Interesting video. Thanks for posting. Would you please add the ACTUAL timing figures for the inlet cam not 0's. For example my Inlet cam is timed at 130 deg ATDC with no VVT but it then advances to 97 deg ATDC. Given that your vid is based on a Turbo VVT engine I'm keen to find out the effects of reducing overlap at higher RPM to gain power. My Ex Cam is vernier fixed at 104 deg BTDC

Based on your experience does vvt help at all in the exhaust side ? or is it better to just run it at a certain degree.

Awesome video! It's great to see where each cam contributes to the torque curves! So for an ideal cam angle (intake and exhaust) vs rpm (as a 1d map for each cam), does that hold true for all boost / vacuum conditions, or is there room for improvement by doing a 2D table with manifold pressure / load axis? I know that the stock ecu's on subarus and mitsubishi's have 2d maps. Would going for highest VE in each cell based on cam timing be the way to approach it? Or I'm wondering now if the factory tunes it more for fuel economy with the 2D map.

Cool vid, would this still be worth thinking about with not vvt cam timing using verniers? Cheers

Yes... To an extent. You'd have to be pretty careful of course, the majority of VVT specific cams are different durations etc than a fixed cam. There are some exceptions, the jaguar 4.2 V8 for instance. You'd suffer idle issues, and efficiency here and there, but ultimately you should be able to set your cams on the Dyno to get the best all round. 👍

I’m trying to find your CANBUS video. I’m doing something very similar with a Maxxecu race on a 2000 V70R. GTX3076, with a dual vvt head retrofitted and forged bottom end. The CAN network on that car is super basic compared to a C30 (there’s 14 identifiers) but it’s the first time I’ve played with CAN networks and I have a lot to learn.

The 'DriveTribe' behind the scenes video on my channel has the most CANBUS information at this point. :-)

Really interesting video, like it a lot! The pnp connector harness, ecu and canbus protocol, are you going to make more, of these? If so, I would like to buy! I am running a ecumaster Black, on my own 510whp c30 t5 awd, with a modded focus rs pnp, but i am not knowing enough about canbus, to decode and code it.. So im running the me9 as a piggybag, beside the ecumaster, to keep the canbus alive in the car 😅

Potentially, we could. It wasn't something I'd really thought about doing to be honest. Sam, the owner of the car mentioned that others may be interested. I didn't honestly realise there was a market. I don't deal with Volvos much. I'd considered a Piggyback when initially speaking to Sam (The owner), but he was pretty dead set on running the standalone completely. A more time consuming, and costly exercise, but ultimately it should be a better end product. How does the piggyback cope as a matter of interest? Does everything work ok?

@@TuningShed ok, i would really like to buy a complete set, pnp harness, ecu with programmed can protocol. a complete stand alone solution, is much better, I just could not get it working, as a stand alone ecu, and I could not break the immobilizer, so I had to put in the me9, and make Y harness. the car starts and drives, the steering and brakes work, most things in the speedometer work, but for some reason, the speedometer goes crazy when the engine gets above 3000rpm, then the speedometer dies, because for some reason, the canbus system shots down, when the engine again comes below 3000rpm, the canbus comes back alive again, and the speedometer wakes up again .. so the car runs and drive, but the electronics do not work as I wish it should .. so i really want to buy an ecu set of you, it would solve all the problems🙂

@@TuningShed 👋 A decent drop in ECU that works properly without throwing lights, losing cruise etc, but with easy tuning, is what I absolutely want. Fed up with the ME9’s silly quirks

This configuration can also be applied to naturally aspirated engines? I'm trying to extract more power in my duratec 2.0L.
