Im a new subscriber from Texas im wanted to learn Lidar ,surveying and mapping im new to drone and surveying it looks pretty straight forward in the video,but im sure ots harder then what I think to do this.not sure if you reply or not but what trainings and certifcations do i need to gdt to start in thos industry?
Howdy, fellow Texan! Great question. To legally fly drones for commercial purposes, you must first get your FAA Pt. 107 certification(aka Remote Pilot Certificate). You can find information on how to get certified here: www.faa.gov/uas/commercial_operators/become_a_drone_pilot#ftp. To learn how to map using a drone with LiDAR it really depends on the platform you choose. Some drone companies offer a complete package, like our Discovery 3, that have the camera and LiDAR integrated, while others you will choose the LiDAR sensor you need as well as the drone and other components. You will also need to learn how to process the LiDAR data into useful data. There are lots of software options out there for this, depending on what your needs are as far data deliverables go. No matter the system you choose, the steps are relatively the same. Plan the mission, fly the mission, and process the data. All in all, you should find a drone platform that works best for what you will be flying it for and most manufacturers offer some sort of training for their platform. is this drone considered NDAA compliant? I work with a major utility and we are looking at fleet diversification options. What processing software pipeline do you all use with that Lidar package?
