In Tableau Prep, its now even easier to replace a data source. Simply drag the new one on top of the old one. You don't even need to watch my video to see how it works its as obvious as it sounds.

I’m glad to see more of these “quality of life” updates as you call them! I hope Tableau sees all the excitement about them and focuses more effort on practical updates like this going forward.

Tim, I am a couple of days late but happy birthday! You mentioned 30th in a 2 year old video that just really helped me out

Great quality of life improvement. I regularly use Tableau Prep for survey data. When survey windows get updated then it is useful to quickly swap the data sources over.

Great tip! Ah yeah! lol i know that feeling. I dont often work with surveys but its one of those workflows where this kinda change just makes it nicer.

Hi Tim, super helpful. Question, is there any way to keep the changes you make to the input file? When I replace the file, the changes disappear. I need them to stay, as I'm changing a field with leading zeros to a string so the leading zeros will remain, if I don't do this on the input file and wait until the next step, which is a join, then I lose the leading zeros and I'm missing data after the join. Thanks!

@morgangolden4431 not really. I can think of a way but it’s messy and involves the workflow xml

Also this is awesome. And I see how in this example you have two outputs coming out of tableau prep. How do you combine the two outputs, with relationships (since prep won’t let you do relationships)?

You would need to do that in tableau desktop. I guess Tableau design around their platform and prep weirdly doesn't let you build models as outputs just linear flat files.

Hi Time. Are Tableau Prep and Tableau Prep Conductor available in Tableau Online/Cloud?

Yes both native experiences in tableau cloud. No feature loss. In my opinion prep conductor is better on cloud. But that’s my take on it based on experience.
