Whats the greatest display range of the 747-400 ND (in nautical miles) when the ND compass rose is centered?

With the centered mode selected for range on the EFIS CP, the total max range on the ND max is 640 nm on the 747-400, 320 nm miles in front of you and 320 nm miles behind you with range marks at 160 nm in front and back of the Triangle (jet).

How can we calculate the position error from this display sir. I mean the difference of the displayed position and real position of the afct?

You can check Position Error on the ND by selecting POS on the EFIS CP and then checking the raw data radial/bearing/distance lines in relation to a navaid. If the radial and cross tick intersect the navaid dead center, there is no error. The GPS symbol will be on the tip of the triangle displaying your current GPS position. You can also look at POS page 2 to see FMC Position, IRS Position, and get bearing/distance info or LAT/LONG data for these positions.

What are the green arrows

The green arrows on the bottom left and right of the ND represent VOR L & VOR R. The skinny needle is VOR L and the fat needle is VOR R. They are selected on by using the VOR/ADF selector on the EFIS CP to the VOR position. If the needle is blue, it is in ADF position and represents ADF L & ADF R. If you are talking about the green arrow at the upper left of the ND, that is the wind direction arrow and speed. Anything 5 knots or less, it is not shown, above 5 knots, it is displayed on the ND, hope that helps...
