Excellent presentation Kelly, thank you. Certainly a SolArk 15K competitor if all advertised specs run and operate as suggested. Time in the field will be important to validate. Thank you.
Love this unit...it does pair so well with your new wall mount battery...one thing is you need to move the display to the bottom some way because when you mount the battery underneath the 18K the display is too high...I'm sure you're already working on this...
Love it. I've been shopping around for solar installers and advocating for the 18KPV. With the EG4 PowerPro Batteries and the ability to DIY expand my PV input later with ease, it's a no brainer. Excited to get this installed soon.
Peak shading is a key feature in the energy storage system created with the 18kPV inverter and the PowerPro WallMount battery. Stay tuned for a video on this!
Also my "dream scenario" would be to run off the solar panels directly during the day, have excess solar production charge the batteries then once the batteries are full and only then export excess solar production to the grid, then when the sun goes down switch to using the batteries and only if the batteries drain down over night would it pull power from the grid, essentially I want the grid to function as a "backup generator". The reason I want to prioritize charging batteries from the solar over sending the production to the grid is because my power company pays 7 cents less per KwH then they charge me so minimizing my grid usage makes the batteries financially viable.
Can you guys please show how this unit can handle a load on a single phase, some that is a problem for mostly all high frequent inverters. I don’t thing Mason showed that without any load on the second Phase. Yes it’s extreme but good guide of performance. Thank you so most for all the good info TEXAS Guys
Are the "communication" cables to the batteries a requirement for the system to use batteries or can you connect something like those pre-made 48v 100Ah batteries that look like giant car batteries but are LiFePo4 or 4 12v Lifepo4 in series to reach the 48v target?
Can you use 4 12.8V 280ah Eco-Worthy batteries with this inverter? Or a charge controller that would work with inverter that would allow me to use my existing LiFePO4 batteries?
This is an awesome inverter! I haven't seen anything like this before. I am just breaking in to solar PV installations, and I can't wait for a chance to try this out. Thank you.
Does the "remote monitoring through the app" function in a local network mode, with no offsite Internet connectivity? I.e. can the app reach the device over a LAN without any cloud involvement?
CAN YOU RECOMMEND WHAT SOLAR PANELS TO USE FOR THIS 18KPV, TO GET UP TO THAT 20 KW OF PV POWER AND HOW MANY PANELS (PHOTOVOLTAIC/AMORPHOUS PANELS ONLY) ?
13 panels in series into each input will get you there - These would be a good option for you - signaturesolar.com/preorder-hyperion-400w-bifacial-solar-panel-black-up-to-500w-with-bifacial-gain/
You can connect up to 3 of our WallMount batteries per inverter and you can parallel up to 10 inverters. Per inverter that max continuous output is 50A. Here's a link for the spec sheet on the 18k: eg4electronics.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/EG4-18KPV-12LV-Spec-Sheet-1.2.1-1.pdf
@@SignatureSolarso if I want a 200A main panel like a normal house and want to put in ev charger and all the normal appliances I need 4 of these inverters? How much solar does it to make the power to run the home and charge the batteries so that im full for nighttime off grid
@Signature Solar, what is the model of the 2pole Schneider fused disconnect you're using? And with the 2 pole manual transfer switch (MTS) for solar, battery, grid. I assume its offscreen and using the large raceway on the screen for the tap? It'd be great in a future video to see the other hardware, (more)wiring, fuses and busbar configurations and, explain how its whats depicted in the manual diagrams you produce! Y'all are doing great work! My customers watch the videos and I do as well :)
can this be used outside (MA requirement). I would need to hook my solaredge energy hub inverter (string power optimizer, grid tied, no battery) with 18kw arrays to AC coupling, and add 7kw DC coupling to it and I assume it will just work?
Great video Kelly and Signature Solar! Could you now follow up with the several setup scenarios in the manual? It looks like in this video that there is a disconnect switch. I thought it had to be a 200A breaker? Things of this nature. Thanks!
How does it connect to the grid? If the battery is running low. How does it switch to grid power? If the connection like Grid>>>18K+battery>>>house? And it just choses between battery or grid power?
I like the idea of adding an inverter and wall mount batteries to my existing solar system that does not have any of that yet, but my problem is that I can't install this myself, and I have no clue who I could hire who is able and willing to install this in Utah.
Does AC Bypass (Grid) of 200A mean that you can hook this up between grid and your main breaker, and if you're using > 12kW, it'll pull from the grid to make up the difference?
Great video, Kelly. A video of connecting this to an existing AC grid tied solar system would be awesome! A lot of us have existing systems and would like to add more production and storage. Also, can this be connected to my internet router via cat5 or newer cables instead of wifi only? If connected to an existing system, such as mine which is 15kw, do I need to bump up to 400 amp service, or can both my existing system be connected with the EG4 18K then to a supply side tap/connection at only 200amps?
There is a way to run the dongle into your router but it will require a special one. EG4 18Kpv Monitoring Adapter | Ethernet Modem. Its an adapter that will allow you to plug into the inverter where the Wi-Fi dongle connects and run an ethernet out the other end into a router.
@SignatureSolar and Kelly, I'm very interested in purchasing this unit. However, I have been waiting and hoping that a firmware update would be preformed to allow more flexibility of the TIME of USE settings. (Daily, Weekday vs Weekend settings.) I've been asking for this since MAY and talked with sales and the guys in Tech Support a number of times over the month since. We need the extra flexibility in the settings to work with our electric company's time of use requirements. Has any changes been made yet? Thank you for your time in this matter. Sincerely, Tony

I have 2 strings of panels from an old array. Inverter will be replaced with the EG4. Currently the strings are far away and are on a rapid shutdown box. It appears that box utilized a signal from the old inverter to tell the box the AC is up - I think it is a 30V DC signal. Does the EG4 Hybrid have the ability to send that signal?
A generator with 97% harmonic distortion can absolutely be accepted however wind turbines do not give a clean sine wave as wind is not a stable source of energy production. #solarenergy ☀️
Hello @amshaq007CR7! We appreciate your inquiry. Currently, we don't have specific information about products in development with EG4. However, they are always working on new and innovative things. Keep an eye on our social media pages and website for the latest updates on potential new product launches.
You could possibly use a freight forwarder for shipping. It has UL compliance, which generally is stricter than what would qualify for CE but it doesn't have CE specifically. It does have the capabilities to function in 50hz systems though.
@@glenmoss8189 It does not require grid connection, that's just one of its special features. Schematics start around page 29, you can find an off-grid schematic there. eg4electronics.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/EG4-18KPV-12LV-Manual-1.4.5.pdf
This inverter has transformerless topology so there's no Toroidal transformer. The idle consumption on normal mode is 70 watts and 18 watts on stand by mode.
@@yaadtech With today's new technology this inverter is rated to handle up to 8kw load imbalance, see Mason's Load Test video where he shows voltage on each leg -> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e1n9GfCPb3E.html
@@SignatureSolar yes I can see what ur saying, but let's be practical, why would I need that, why would I need 18kw of panels to start with, I have 16panels, each 415watts and they power my entire home which is completely off grid, these types of applications are more meant for industrial purposes, not homes, but then again u guys are in the states where yall don't have the sun like us here in the Caribbean, so that explains alot
The warranty is included in the price of the inverter. You can find out more details about the warranty that EG4 offers on this item online at: signaturesolar.com/eg4-18kpv-hybrid-inverter-all-in-one-solar-inverter-eg4-18kpv-12lv/
WHY IS THERE NO SETTING SOLAR/BATTERY/GRID NOT OUT OF BAX READY. STAYS IN GRID ALL DAY. DOES NOT BYPASS GRID TI US CELLS OR BATTERY. UNLESS TURNING OFF GRID POWER. LOL THE CHANGE OVER TIME SHUTS DOWN ALL MY PC'S. WHAT A PAIN TO RESET APPLIANCES. PLEASE CHECK L1, L2 GRID POWER AND BATTERY AMPS. APP DOES NOT STORE SETTINGS.

@@SignatureSolar they been trying to find the right setting. but as soon as the grid kick in i losing power on one leg resetting router looks like L1 or L2 but with no router it not logging data now same problem no seamless Switching .
Here's a tip to the production crew. Have your presenter turn and address the camera when you change shots. They look like idiots and come across as dishonest when talking off into empty space.
*NOTE - Still One Big Problem! You Still Can't Use 2-Units For Split-Phase 240v... You Claimed That The EG4 6500XLs Would Work & Do It BUTT, They Don't, We Bought 8-Of Them Piece-O-Shits & Never Could Make Them Stop Shutting Down For No Reasons, Because Your Operating Firmwares SUCK!!! I Spent Over 24 HOURS On The Phone w/(8)-Eight Different Of Your Soo-Called 'Techs' & We Never Did Resolve The Issues!!!
you aren't even talking about this inverter for most of you post. This inverter supplies split phase by itself so there's no reason to buy multiple or to stack them. The inverter you talk about, the EG4 6500XL, takes like 5 seconds to switch to split phase mode... not sure why you couldn't figure it out. I assume since you can't keep your story straight, you are easily confused.
