Introducing the Chargeverter 5000 from EG4 Electronics! In this video, we'll explore this innovative device, which takes the charging circuit from EG4's inverters and turns it into a standalone battery charger. It's a unique and highly practical device that's perfect for off-grid setups!
One of the standout features of the Chargeverter is its ability to turn potentially dirty generator power into clean DC power, eliminating the need for complex power transfers and potentially saving you money on generator costs!
The Chargeverter can also bring a fully depleated lithium battery back to life, making it incredibly versatile. Plus, it comes with a built-in 125 Amp DC circuit breaker, saving you the expense of additional fuses.
And of course, we can't forget the teardown! You'll get an inside look at the Chargeverter's components, including the rectifier modules commonly found in the telecom industry. This reveals the device's robust and reliable design.
We hope you found this video informative and enjoyable. Don't hesitate to leave your questions and comments below, and please consider hitting the thumbs-up button if you found this video helpful. Thanks for watching, and we look forward to hearing from you soon!

Thanks for sharing! I didn’t know they modified the unit to slowly ramp up. The original units used to just discharge full power as soon as they were turned on. Also good to see they resolved the loose module issue, albeit kinda messily, but still resolved it.

Great timing I was just about ready to make an adapter plug for use on 120VAC. With Idalia at my doorstep it will get a good workout. EG4 nailed this design it was like they read my mind on what I was looking for in a high current charger.

I wish these existed when I built my first system as I would have moved up to 48V (small system) I also wish they made a 24V & 12V versions

I got mine when they first came out and it has worked great. I can charge with a small generator or a large one without damaging the charge controller.

I've got one of these on the shelf I've not yet installed, but think I need to. My intermediate setup is a full stack of 6 of the LL Batteries and an EG4 3k/48v all in one. I was trying to charge the battery from a 2k inverter/generator via the AC-IN on the all-in-one and wasn't getting more than 500-600W with zero loads. Could not find a setting that would bring it even to 1k. Seeing this can ramp the amps down, I'll hook it up and find a sweet spot to run the inverter/generator most efficiently and see how that does. Thanks.

So, if you don’t use an EG4 inverter in pass through mode, you can use a non-inverter generator to charge the batteries? There’s no clean up of the dirty power in the chargeverter, it just guarantees that dirty power does not go through the inverters to the loads?

could you please consider making a video with more details on how battery activation works? nobody ever talks about that - but it seems all bms work that way (you have to activate it in some manner) - i'm just looking to understand how it all works - where did this method come from - idk - just very very grateful for your content and channel!

Could you get the full 100a output with dual 120v generators using a parallel kit. Seems each module is just 120v and 240v is not actually needed for full power.

I am actually on the phone (on hold) with Signature Solar right now. I would like to know why this charger is limited to Lithium Battery Banks. I do not understand why it cannot be used for Glass Mat Based Battery System. Would you have any thoughts in regard to why? I am interested in hearing your thoughts. We have (2) 48 volt ABSOLYTE GX Battery Banks @ 2,000 Amp Hours Each and I don't think that this could ever over power the banks but I could be wrong. If it is charging parameters this could be compensated with the same manner of adjustment that is being done with your generator, correct? Or am I completely wrong in my thinking?

@CurrentConnected

Yes, or if you have a bus bar that the rack hooks to, the charger can feed to that bus bar as well.

Too bad it's only good for 48v batteries. I would love a 36v version. I use the EG4 36v charger which gets the job done but slowly. And you mentioned 208v AC input which makes me think 3-phase but I don't see this mentioned in the manual. Did you mean 220v / 240v split phase?
@CurrentConnected
@CurrentConnected 10 месяцев назад
The output voltage can go down to 42v, so, if that's within the upper charge limit of your 36v batteries it can theoretically work. We tested running it on 208v (two lines of a 3 phase system) and it works just as well as at 240v!

Would have been nice to see the output on an oscilloscope .... So we can see the DC ripple etc and confirm it is actually clean output. Without that..... we're just taking their word for it. But thanks for another great video on a new product ;)

Through Signature Solar? I had to go through six units to get two working ones. And it took months through Signature Solar and their awful service. Right after that Current Connected started carrying them and I noticed that the two I finally got that were good were a second revision with changes that fixed some but not all of the issues. Hopefully that's why Current Connected stocked them later and Signature Solar was selling out of the original units that never should have left the prototyping bench.

You were recommended highly by Will Prowse, but PLEASE ... at 0:44 Never EVER say "to the next level!" ... SOOOO "millennial!" 😂 Actually a little bit shy of using LFP batteries (SOOOO Boomer) because my grid tie, battery backup system is flooded lead acid, the last 12 years. I also operated a WW2 Victory Ship that could make turns without a candlepower of light ... So definitely geezer time. Off-grid cabin will have a 48 volt system charging to DC equipment, just enough solar to keep it floated. Likely AGM with this Chargeverter. Or not.... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JOlaQwy7i9c.htmlsi=qEIZrUNGshvPHsRR ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Rp8Hspi4BC4.htmlsi=cZ2UUAOjnuzPHDe6 Build up from there ... Just comfort level for now. Possibly a hand truck system like Will Prowse built. THEN I'll use LiFePo4. Very good video.
