I want to create one and I was so happy to find your last video because it moved my heart to create a prayer Bible more mindfully. Great podcast, I will be ordering these books asap. One of the really helpful things that I gleaned from a previous pastor at my church was to look at the bible with 3 lenses. Firstly through a telescope lens- so looking at the big picture of the whole arc of the Bible. Secondly, to look with our own 20/20 regular vision, like chapters or books of the Bible, with notes or commentary. Lastly, look with your microscope to one or a few verses, like your word studies and deep dives. If we were to look at themes, then we must still use our 3 lenses to examine the references given to support any particular point of view.

I greatly enjoyed this podcast and have put Dr. Webb’s book on my reading list. I have recently come back to Christ and am new to reading the Bible. Your videos have been a HUGE help to me. I know this was only briefly touched on, but as a lesbian woman, I’m wrestling with the view of homosexuality in the Bible and trying to find a faithful understanding. I’ve struggled to find good resources on the topic because I find people either tend to write from a place of hate or a place of hurt and neither are true to the text or the history of the time. Dr. Webb seemed to come from a faithful perspective so I’m interested to read his writing on the topic. I’m also interested to find other sources who might take stronger approach in their hermeneutics and see their reasonings. I’m married to a woman and we have a 6 month child together. Our life is full of love. Growing in my understanding of my faith while wrestling with this topic is so so hard, but so worth it. We must always be bold enough to face the hard topics both with others and within ourselves-with LOVE as our basis.

It's been a fascinating experience watching you grow from fun loving Bible note taker to serious thinker. Will your denomination be able to contain you?

I'm enjoying listening to this gentleman. As I listen, I'm reminded of another theologian who also wrestle with some of those difficult text of Scripture. His name is Greg Boyd and he wrote a book called "The Crucifixion of the Warrior God: Interpreting the Old Testament’s Violent Portraits of God in Light of the Cross". It's a two volume and there's a more condensed version.

Such a great topic! I do think Dr. Webb was maybe a bit nervous interviewing, he stalled often on his thought process, he would laugh or have an undertone of nervous laughter when he was describing sensitive information. I thought you Faith were much more prepared, understood the content and context of the material in a much more balanced manner. Hopefully this comment comes across more observant than critical. Keep up the good work!

His is an interesting approach. I've seen Witherington occasionally allude to "trajectory" as part of hermeneutics. OTOH, I note that Dr. Webb's chapter was dropped in the most recent edition of "Discovering Biblical Equality," so it's probably not considered the most important or reliable hermeneutical approach.

I'd love links to the commentaries mentioned at the end, and if available (free or paid) links to Dr Webb's online course like Revelation.

It’s always frustrating when they act like an intelligent woman that has a desire to learn and grow deeper is rare as if women don’t also have the same brain that has developed over centuries. And it’s “ when a woman does it right” bc we’re judged harshly when one misquotes and it’s used as proof that women shouldn’t teach. However there are plenty if men that get it wrong, misquote and teach bad theology but they aren’t condemned as harshly if ever.

Is it possible to produce a list of the commentaries? I cannot quite catch the authors names. Thank you.

lol He is demonstrably incorrect. You clearly haven't done the research yourself AND he is coming from a biased point of view. The Bible as a WHOLE doesn't support women being pastors nor addressing the general congregation as preachers. The Bible AS A WHOLE does NOT support his position. It is pretty funny to watch this.
