I made this last night. It was gorgeous. I used a clove of garlic with some white onions for my own personal preference. Thank you for this video. It's fun to watch. Please make more traditional Chinese recipe.
I tried it when I first saw the video and it tasted great, but I thought it may be a fluke. Then I tried again today and it tasted great again. Great recipe. Thank you!
Very awesome tutorial. My college friend from China introduced me to this meal. She was disgusted by the chinese fast food in our town lol. So she showed us some authentic Chinese cooking and this was, by far, the biggest hit! So easy, soooooo good. Getting some tomatoes now!
I was wondering about the sugar part. Thanks for posting your comment. I'm going to give it a try and maybe add some cooked rice also without the soy sauce.
I’ve been watching this video since I was in elementary school, my bestfriend was Chinese and I loved the way her mom made the eggs I’m now 21 and still go back to it ❤️
I have no idea it was a students cafeteria's favorite. simple and worth trying out. I would personally throw in some chopped spring onions in the last minute before serving. That way, you end up with a dish that has 3 appetising colors : red, yellow and green 😀
She's sweet... I looked at other videos for the same recipe but I'll go with this one... I used to eat this when I lived in China and it was one of my favorite dishes
Thank you so much for that recipe! I was just sitting here thinking about how hungry I am. As I watched you, my mouth started to water. Guess I'll go and make some tomato and eggs!!!!
Wow! I had this dish about 50 years ago when our extended family from Taiwan came to Canada. I could not get enough of it and now I have the recipe and method, thank you so much! 😘
Am a retired Chef just now discovering the wonderful Chinese RU-vid cooking channels. Who would of imagined? Tomato and scrambled egg. Wow. Going to try. Thank you. Doug in Oregon
@@buddcarcook4655 Right. These home-made Chinese RU-vid cooking channels are really cool, esp. the one's with no English translation. Cooks never stop learning.
I just looove your enthusiasm. I actually smiled throughout the whole video at your beautiful accent. I will certainly try this no-fuss method. Thank you for sharing this.
My mom used to always make this when she was alive. Comfort food!! You can add green onions, scallions, bitter Mellon or anything else that you like. The eggs and tomatoes is the base.
Assalamu'alaykum Hassan.... I just saw this recipe. Is it soury/salty taste or, a bit sweet as the tomatoes were cookes ? I"ve made shatshuka a few times. Im just wondering if it tastes quite similar.
My mom makes something similar. But we dont add sugar instead we add green chillies, minced onions & garlic power-just a pinch- & it tastes amazing. I'll try this for her next time. This sounds tasty too. Also from Asia- Bangladesh.
Sleepy Koya your mamma makes hers like mine. It's definitely YUMMMY. My whole family loves this for a light meal or a nice late breakfast served with fresh bread yum
You’re awesome. Thank you. I’ll be cooking this for my guests in two days since they’ll be going to China soon. I had it in Shanghai last year and loved it!
That's a lovely yet simple dish! Thank you very much, yeqiang! I think I'll add some onions and some green chillies too. By the way, the way you speak is so charming!
The first time i went to Beijing, i tried this dish. My first thought was.."what's so special about this common dish?". When i tasted it, trust me it was different and not oily. Never tasted tomato egg that good. There must be something else they put in there. This video makes it look so straightforward. Too much oil - agreed. But that is up to us.
Thank you so much for sharing! This looks delicious. I want to encourage you on your English. It sounds great. Please keep posting authentic Chinese food recipes :)
Her english is so understandable, i didnt have any problem to understand her amazing english. Nice video, for a simple breakfast food, when you dont want to spend hours in the kitchen.
I used to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) in Asia. The languages are so different, it's very hard. Not like speaking English and learning Spanish or French. I'm impressed with her language and cooking abilities. :)
My grandmother used to make this dish. She passed away 20 years ago and this is the first time I have seen someone use the same recipe as she did. God bless.
Some days don't you feel like just making something simple and easy to start you off with a yummy in your tummy. This is it! Thanks for the simple and easy recipe, you seem kind and gentle and I liked your video.
If you only knew how happy watching your videos makes me. I love your approach to teaching. Very thorough. I love that you speak cantonese and english together in some of your videos. I have been watching your videos since I was in high-school and I still enjoy. Especially your wanton video series. Amazing amazing explanations. Very clear.
Today I followed this recipe and the dish is excellent! I added some chives and a bit of soy sauce for extra flavor and color. Thank you for sharing! This will be cooked again. And again. 🙏🏻💞
Thank you for sharing the video. In Arab countries we have a similar dish. It's called "shakshouka". But we start with cooking the tomatoes as it takes longer than the eggs.👍😊
@Adam LB the english language has been evolving, like all languages, since the beginning of human existence. It's in the nature of our existence and you can't stop it.
Jessica, the people are taking the video so personal, the sweet chinese woman is showing to the lazy ones who doesnt like to complicate their life in cooking fancy foods, to cook something simple that it goes to your pace morons.
Tomato and egg really saved me when I travelled to China for work, especially in Northern China where there is a great love of innards and things that I had concerns about food safety. Over rice or over noodles or just as is, it definitely is a delicious and simple dish. I make it at home sometimes, and when I want it tangy, I skip the sugar and instead put a tablespoon of ketchup in it (or you can add vinegar and sugar - same stuff). Amount of oil will depend on your taste and the heat of your stove and what type of pan.
Since I was a child, my mother used to cook that fried egg with tomatoes. We cook the tomatoes first then add the beaten egg. It's one of my child's favorite breakfast viand. ☺😋💛
Thank you for this excellent demonstration. You have a high level of skill as evidenced by your use of the knife, the excellent wok, and special gas burner. My mother, who was from Sicily, like you was an excellent cook and often made the same dish, which was a family favourite. There were two differences, however: she removed the egg when it was still soft, but very nearly cooked through, and she added very small dice green onions as a garnish when it was served. If my father was home then she'd also serve American style strip bacon. She used less than half the sugar, a scant teaspoon; we had VERY little sweets, so none of 4 children were obese or diabetic. I'm 76, this happened 65 yrs ago; styles and tastes changed since then, not necessarily for the better, however. I have subscribed!
👍👍👍 This is the traditional Chinese family way cooking of eggs & tomato dishes. Quick and easy and tasty. 👍👍👍 None of the unnecessary steps that you see others does it.
