One of many caddis variations. Well, this one is a bit more specific. Its imitating egg laying insect.
Usually caddis eggs are green, body colour can be different, and its up to u to choose it as well as size of your fly.
Fish it dead drift with occasional twitches
Tight lines

Well done Vladimir. I'll be tying these for my Summer trip to Montana. I also like using GSP thread due to its strength and thinness. Since the thread is very slippery, I slide it against Veniard's Prepared Fly Tyer's Wax when appropriate during tying. This doesn't add any discernible bulk and the the thread doesn't become very sticky--just a little tacky.

Thanks a lot and thanks for the tip. I have some bee's wax for that purpose but it seems i am just to lazy to use it most often. I wish you have amazing trip to Montana... Its one of the places i want to visit... Cheers Vladimir

Hi how's things,love the vids, just a suggestion,could you put a materials list in print somewhere....
@Oholisfliesandfishing
@Oholisfliesandfishing 4 года назад
Hi, first of all, thanks... Glad to hear that... By nature i am pretty lazy person. I can try to put materials list.... I think i did on some videos... But it ended up like this: Hook: tmc103bl (but you can use any you like) Body: my own mix od squirrel and uv dubbing, but you can use any other dubbing to match your local insects.... U get me.... Most flies i tie, even proven ones, i make different every time i tie them.... My idea is that people should use their intuition and imagination as much as they can. When i started tying.... Materials were not available, so i learnt how to improvise.... And i think that is very important Cheers Vladimir

Great looking fly! I like the two tone wing and the pheasant(?) collar. What size was the hook? Caddis are deceiving, the wings are longer than the body on the ones I've seen. I like the idea of fishing that in and out of the surface film. Thanks Vladimir.

Thanks mate. Its some partridge like chinese bird. I got its skin... And its great. Has extremely thin sfem... I mixed it with a bit of cdc. Yes.... Wings are pretty longer than the body, most of us dont make it that way. 😀😀

Thank you, very nice pattern. I know you haven't had a chance to visit the Madison River in Montana, it is a beautifly river with miles of pocket water. I will be there in July which is the prime caddis time and I'm stocking up on my caddis patterns. i've several egg laying patterns, but they are primarily soft hackle style. I like your cdc pattern for surface or diving. I was wondering if you thought that a snowshoe rabbit overwing would be overkill. I am having difficulty transferring trimmed hackle from the clip into the dubbing loop without losing half of it !! Do you just pull down on your dubbing tool in order to tighten the the two sides ? Thanks very much

@Oholisfliesandfishing 4 года назад
Hi, first, glad u liked this one.. U r right.... I have never visited any USA river.... Cause i havent been in the USA 😀😀. Hopefully that will change. As for snowshoe its not an overkill if u need it for dark conditions or fast water.... In that case, just put one cdc and snowshoe over it.... Remember to use very thin but strong thread so u can tighten the wings properly... When you transfer from clip to the loop its important to keep the clip closed up untill the moment when you insert the hackle into the loop.... Then first tighten the loop and trap hackles and only after that you can open the clip.... Dont open the clip and pull it back at the same moment.... Open it first and release all the hackle. If u do it together open and pull away then some fibers will be pulled out.... Hope this make some sense... I think someone else had the same issue so i will cover it in more details in one of the following videos Cheers and tight lines 🍻

Thanks for the quick reply, my problem with the clip is that I can't seem to get the loop tight enough to hold the fibers, I'll keep practicing ! I switched to Nano-Silk and I feel that my tying has improverd100%. The thinness of the thread eliminates buildup and unnecessary bulk especially at the head of the fly and the strength of the thread is perfect for any flies that use deer hair or rabbit. Thanks much for the suggestion !!

Hi Vladimir. What kind of bird are you showing in the video? The feather is like a partridge, but it is a different bird. Do you know its name or how to locate its feathers? Thank you.
@Oholisfliesandfishing
@Oholisfliesandfishing 4 года назад
Not sure my friend. I live in china now.... I got this skin from a friend here. He doesnt speak English i dont speak Chinese.... Imagine how difficult is it to get the information about bird. But i will try to find out since its better than partridge for smaller flies, it has very thin stem.

@@Oholisfliesandfishing That's right, it looks like good stuff. I buy quite a lot of tying equipment on the Chinese market, but I haven't seen it. I would appreciate it very much, if you find out, to know what bird it is. Thank you very much Vladi. Regards.

A really superb fly. Your own pattern? :-)
@Oholisfliesandfishing
@Oholisfliesandfishing 4 года назад
Thanks a lot glad you like it. Well, i wouldn't call it my own pattern since similar flies people tie around the world. I would consider a pattern as my own if i was the first to tie it... Especially if there's some new technique involved. For example, there is falangista PT nymph on my channel.... Maybe that one can be considered as my own. What are your thoughts about what make one pattern to be someones creation?
@TERRYBIGGENDEN
@TERRYBIGGENDEN 4 года назад
@@Oholisfliesandfishing Thanks. I wasn't sure if I had seen that kind of fly before. I:m still fairly new to fly fishing and fly tying. even though I was fascinated as a kid. I guess a completely new fly is a rare thing-most of what I see are variations. And a I serially doubt the advantage of any particular pattern. I make my own as well, based mostly on what materials I can find/ It's too hard trying to have every material-I've settled down to a few and the occasional new one. I think bead heads were a revolution. and maybe CDC ? And the replacement of feather wigs with hair? Anyway. I'm enjoying your clips and helpful hints. :-)
@Oholisfliesandfishing
@Oholisfliesandfishing 4 года назад
@@TERRYBIGGENDEN ohh, CDC was a true revolution. its magical material in so many ways. i always substitute wings of traditional dries with cdc, because it adds to buoyancy. Beadheads as well....true improvement. As you said, i agree 100%, new fly is almost impossible to get...truly new pattern, thats why i am afraid to say such a thing for most of my flies. have you seen falangista PT nymph? do you think i can call it as my own? here's the link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gmssMDzFT_g.html
