Making the Egg & Turmeric soap recipe from Amanda Aaron's new book: The Complete Guide to Natural Soapmaking, available for pre-order: amzn.to/2UODMSA
The soap SHOULD have been smooth. Amanda says she's never encountered this before, so I'm looking for feedback from others who have successfully made soap with egg in it!

Hi Amy, I make egg shampoo bars all the time. I temper my beaten eggs with some of the oil mixture then add it back into the bulk oils and blend it in with the immersion blender BEFORE adding the lye. That way the egg is not cooked by the lye and you will end up with a smoother soap in the end. I hope this helps. I love the colors of your soap!

Thank you, Donna!! Yes, I think I may try that next time. I appreciate your kind words! 😊

I have made egg soap many times. Mix the egg with the oils before you add the lye and essential oils

Yes, agree! Mix the egg in with the oils first.

I made Brambleberry Egg Nog soap. Ann Marie had us adding 4 egg yolks. I was thinking this would never work but the soap turned out beautiful.

That's great news!! I actually re-made this soap yesterday and I think it worked out much better! I'll hopefully be able to share tomorrow. :) Someone else mentioned that egg nog soap - I should probably look it up!

Try adding the egg to the oils before adding in the lye, and pass the egg through a fine sieve so that the egg film that is difficult to blend would stay in the sieve. Because the egg is dispersed evenly in the oils before the chemical reaction happens, it is less likely for it to curdle.

Egg soap is on my Easter list this year so it's awesome to see someone else give it a go first! I've seen egg used in rebatch with ABS but I'm a little hesitant to give that a try before doing a little more research. Thanks so much for sharing your experience making this type of soap with us all! :)Jen

Wow...it does look as if the eggs is scrambled in the soap. That's probably just because it's not smooth. But I'm interested to know how the soap feels after it cures. Thanks for sharing.

I have gotten that look before in my first soaps cause I didnt use my emersion blender to mix my titanium dioxide. Literally I could rub my finger on some spots and white would drag across the soap. Ive never made egg soap but it could also be cause you didnt mix your egg with emersion blender in your oils before adding your lie. You may have cooked it not sure. Good luck with your next batch cant wait to see it. God Bless.

Yes, that answer is absolutely correct! I did try it again, blending and straining the egg into the oils first and it worked much better! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9rCE0_7L-9A.html

Interesting but i always wondered: Wouldnt the soap go bad in the soap. What is the shelf life for this soap?
@AmyWarden
@AmyWarden 5 лет назад
There are lots of food items that you can add to soap without them spoiling because the pH is so high. Like adding raw milk! It makes the soap really amazing!

@@AmyWarden yah ive used a sorts of milk , yogurt and creams, but there's just something about egg that seems odd. Lol reminds me of when i was young and my dad cracking an egg in my moms hair after hearing that it added great shine. Lol
