EGO 56V 18in CHAINSAW (THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING) In this video we show the #verycoolgang a brand new battery powered chainsaw that changes everything you thought was possible for cordless tools. This EGO 56V 18in chainsaw has plenty of power and runtime to get most jobs done and will surprise you when you use it. We had to cut down some old tree trunks around the lot at the shop and this EGO chainsaw was just what we needed. Let us know your thoughts on this EGO 56V 18in chainsaw and EGO power+ tools in the comments section below.

Bought my EGO 18" a few weeks ago. Absolutely loving it. I got so tired of fighting with gas saws seemingly always out of tune, not running right, won't start, won't idle, etc. Not to mention dealing with 2 cycle fuel and the ear killing noise. In fire season we can't even use gas saws in this country for danger of starting fires. This EGO saw is powerful, simple and quiet, no risk of exhaust sparks and no fuel to deal with. I was stunned how well it sliced through the 14" or so dia. trees I've done so far. As a property owner type user, I'm sure I'll never buy another gas saw.

Had a large tree come down in a storm last week. Got my Stihl Chainsaw out, prayed it would crank, it did and I started working, cutting the tree. Cut about half and stopped for the night. Next day saw will not start. Pulled the cord so much if it had started I was done. Got mad went to Lowes and purchased the EGO 18in Saw, and it was on sale. Thought I would be disappointed with the power of cuts but I was WRONG. I love this saw. Paid almost as much for an extra battery as I did for the saw, battery and charger. Never thought I would see the day a battery could run a chainsaw and do a great job. That time is definitely here.

I have the entire line of ego equipment, the tree trimming pole saw is insane. I just bought this saw a month ago and felled a very large tree next to home with it. This thing is a beast! I gave up on gas three years ago. The the Ego power head line is perfect and I highly recommend it.

What's amazing is that the cells are the same thing as we had in our modded flashlights >7 years ago, the industry is just finally dripping them over into tools with brushless motors. What's ironic is that the toys--R/C cars that is--will show you right now what your tools will be lucky to use in 10 years! The motors and batteries in current tools were being surpassed by the motors and batteries in R/C cars and trucks over 10 years ago. Right now the R/C stuff is using graphene lithium polymer packs that put out hundreds of amps of burst current and fully charge in under 10 minutes, while the tools are lucky to pull 25-30A and charge their packs in under an hour. Technically anyone skilled in R/C could build more powerful tools than the makers just by altering the packs which power them, as a start. In fact it's quite easy to do. I was running ~22V DeWalt tools well before they even had a 20V line!

I’ve got an EGO two battery 56V lawnmower. It is very light easy to use and does a real good job. I tried out 1 battery on my yard. I got 90% done on my 5,000 sq foot yard before it ran out of charge. Really glad I opted for the twin battery system. This chainsaw runs like I expected [already familiar with their lawnmower]. This will be the next tool in my EGO arsenal. By the way, all EGO batteries fit ALL of its products. So I can use the batteries I got with my lawnmower on this chainsaw. I think that was really forward thinking and AWESOME 👏…

I purchased a 16" bar chainsaw and it was a revelation to experience the capability and user-friendliness it provided. Mine is not the new and improved either! Chain adjustment requires no wrenches or screwdrivers and has the older brush motor but it led to my ownership of a weed trimmer 👍 , blower 👍, and walk-behind mower 👍. Btw, I have 500+ lineal feet of weed trimming and I can get more than half of it done with one 2.5a/h battery. It goes from full to empty and I put the battery on the standard charger and it charges, immediately, in 45 minutes! The batteries shed heat, not hold it!

It was nice that you showed the temp of the battery while charging. This battery system does not get hot while charging especially compared to other brands even with the fast charger. That is very good for the cells. Closer spot readings and ambient temps would have demonstrated that even better.

For those looking to get this, I highly recommend the fast charger that comes with the Mower. I bought a reconditioned Mower with a brand new battery and faster charger for $400 and then got a 14inch chainsaw for $199. The chainsaw came with a 2.5ah battery and it charged 100% on the fast charger in 20 minutes from empty. The mower came with a 7.5ah battery that can be used in the Chainsaw! The 7.5ah charges in about an hour. Ego is just an amazing product because of the way they setup any battery to work in any product they make!

The 16" Ego vs the 16" Milwaukee, I used both multiple times and ended up going with the Ego. More power, better price, better performance - the only downfall of the Ego would be that it isn't balanced as well. Ego is killing it in the Outdoor Power Equipment game. I'm amazed by the power their 21" push mower has too. I took that thing through 7 inches of tall, thick, damp grass and it's like it laughed at my yard. Didn't skip a beat! I'm loving their backpack blower. The thing is a GD beast and I don't feel like an asshole when I used it anytime during the early morning or late evening because it's so quiet. I'd love to get my hands on their new power head and a few attachments...hopefully sooner than later! Keep up the great reviews guys. Red tools in the house and garage, but Ego rules the Yard.

No gas, oil, carb, fumes, tune ups, maintenance, etc. Instant torque, no fighting to start it, easy tensioning, quiter (no earplugs needed), LED light to allow for late night cutting after a storm... it's literally a no brainer... Higher up front cost but pays for itself times over in the long term...

Yeah I got the 14inch to saw up roots in my yard from a pine tree. The roots were big as the tree but the Ego made short work of them. It took me 2 months to completely remove the roots but only because I had to dig them outta the yard and saw them out of the ground. Only issue I had was, learning when the chain heated up to re-tension it. It came off once and I learned to put it back on. Since then, 0 issues!

This saw is definitely better than the 14/16 ego chainsaw as far as power and run time. I have both models. Only complaint is the stock ego chains don't take many resharpening rounds before it wears down and needs replacing. The regular chainsaw on my gas saw seems to last longer and take more rounds of sharpening.

Good looking saw. Wonder if it cuts faster than the Stihl battery operated? I was shocked at how fast it cut.
@joshcook5434
@joshcook5434 4 года назад
ego batteries actually usually last up to 45 to 90 minutes (depending the size of the battery you use) stihl battery usually lasts only 40-45 minutes at most. I know cause me and a buddy of mine tested it (he has a stihl and i have the ego) mine kept going and his died half way.

I've had the EGO 16" saw for a while now and really like it. But the auto tension makes me think that I need an upgrade. 😁

Yah. Im sure the cut ok. But the sound that you get from a electric battery saw is something to get use to

I have the harbor freight Lynxx and for the money i paid for it (130 on coupon) you just cannot beat it. Plus it comes with an oregon bar and chain. Id like to see you put the EGO and Lynxx together for a head to head duel.

Would love to see a full report on battery life. How many cuts through X" diameter log of Y wood before the battery is dead? At least for this saw, but even better would be a comparison against other manufacturers, including Stihl and Husqvarna battery-powered models. In the video you say the battery drops a bar (out of five) after "just a few cuts". Even if that's a half-dozen cuts, that's only 30 cuts on a battery, or maybe 10-15 minutes of run time. Way less than a tank of gas for a gas-powered saw, and of course gas cans are WAY less expensive than Li-ion batteries (especially the EGO batteries)! I would love to switch to electric chainsaw, but based on my experience with other battery-powered tools, it's hard to see how a battery-powered chainsaw is going to work out for any but the quickest jobs. If you're going to be out in the woods for a couple of hours or more, it doesn't seem practical.

Definitely nice for some people. I have perfected my tree felling and processing setup with two saws. Dolmar 3410 and 6400. 6400 is for felling anything larger than 8-10" and bucking to size. My 3410 is a top handle saw so you can use it with one hand like arborist do. It allows me to blow through limbs and frees my other hand to setup the current or the next piece to cut.

Now, if they just had a whole line of products that would use the same battery. Chervon also makes Kobalt. I have an 80v Kobalt blower that is awesome; the battery doesn't look any bigger than your 56v Ego. Just noticed a 40v Skil chainsaw video (also Chervon.) Would interchangeable batteries be too much to ask for? Thanks, as always for great content!
@TheBasher05
@TheBasher05 4 года назад
Oblique Perspective umm yes it’s too much to ask. Just because they are made by Chervon doesn’t mean they are the same. Do you think Milwaukee would make their tools compatible with the ryobi batteries? Kobolt, Ego and Skil are all different voltages, platforms and brands so of course they will be different. Dumbest question ever!

I'm just surprised how ka ge the battery is. I use a 6mah battery for my brushless Ryobi 14" and it's less than half that size. Great cutting saw regardless
