Láyẹ̀wú or Ìyẹ́kíyẹ́ is an Egúngún Ọdẹ characterized and known with the Yorùbá hunters-Ọdẹ-and their Ìjálá-One of the Yorùbá oral literature. Egúngún Ọdẹ parades and visits family, friends and relatives from house-to-house every three years, where they chant (using Ìjálá Aré Ọdẹ) Oríkì Orílẹ̀-their ancestral eulogy-and pray for individuals.
This documentary tells the story behind Láyẹ̀wú-its origin, role, character, and performance-using Egúngún Ọdẹ of Ọ̀gálá's Compound, Òkèlérin, Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́, Nigeria as a case study.
