Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia all deceive tourists with the free items/donations and or inflate prices even after u negotiated. So wouldn't recommend it for lone as well as inexperienced travellers.

These products are not original or special, they’re the same quality you’d find on AliExpress. This is not friendliness,this is toxic. (Edit)The clothes are actually nice and reasonable given the area you’re buying from, but watches, jewelry, wallets, and bags be careful buying those, you’ll find them on AliExpress for less than 10 dollars but this guy is trying to sell it for 1800 EGP, how much do you think they’re inflating the price, that you start with 1800 and go all the way to 300. I wish we had rules in this country to prevent this type of behavior.

I usually try to only carry a small amount of money that I think I’m going to need ahead of time in the large pocket of my wallet and I divide the rest into small groups and put that into the different hidden sleeves just so that I never show too much at a glance. People always seem to check how much you have in there whether you’re in the US or in a foreign country. Don’t know if this applies to your travels but after that desert situation it might be something to try out. Stay safe out there!

thats just in Khan el Khalil because you are sort of expected to haggle there. In normal places around Cairo, its pretty much the same as EU. You can buy souvenirs and stuff in other places, but it doesnt have the same feel as getting it from Khan el Khalil
