The pyramids of Giza are among the most famous and oldest structures of mankind. They are located on the western edge of the Nile Valley, about eight kilometers southwest of the city of Giza. They are about 15 kilometers from the city center of Cairo and it is located directly on the street of the pyramids (Sharia al-Ahram). They are the only ones left of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
The largest and probably the most famous pyramid is the pyramid of Cheops, the pharaoh Cheops who ruled around 2558 BC. Kr. - 2532 BC Kr. Close to it is the Great Sphinx and the Pyramid of Khafre. The third and at the same time the smallest is the pyramid of Mikeren.
For this reason, in 1979 they were inscribed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in Africa, along with the nearby ancient city of Memphis, and the necropolises of Abusir, Dahshur and Saqqara.
Cairo is the capital of Egypt. Its agglomeration is estimated at 15.2 million inhabitants, making it the thirteenth largest city in the world.
