If I'm not correct, they were only able to find 13 of the 14 pieces of Osiris. The 14th piece was eaten by a fish. And Osiris' wife had to make the 14th piece was made out of clay.
Well and some stories it was eaten by a fish and in other stories it was eaten by a crocod even in kineticism not really sure which one is accurate some say that when it was eaten by a great God sobek commanded the crocodile to spit it out as so it can be reattached to Lord Osiris
this is fantastic. Can you make one that is an hour or so long? Really delving into the mythology and maybe even its symbolic meaning in ancient egypt? Egyptian history gives me life.
4:47 Wasn’t it the other way around? I heard it as Set was infertile, Nepthys wanted a child, so she made herself look like Isis, slept with Osiris, and then out popped Anubis
I believe Nepthys and Isis were twins. Therefore she just pretended to be Isis. I'm not sure about Set being infertile. If my memory serves me he had some children later on. I'm not sure tho.
3:08 *Fun fact:* Speaking of Isis, there was a time in Rome in which the cult of the goddess Isis, one of the most popular pre-Greeks cults that existed, was banned during the reign of Tiberius. This prohibition was due to a really curious anecdote: There was a beautiful noblewoman who worshiped Isis. An equestrian man was so attracted to her that he offered her 2,500 gold coins for just spending one night together, which only caused her a deep indignation. After being rejected, the equestrian man went to the temple of Isis and bribed the priests to tell the noblewoman that Anubis was going to appear that night in the temple and had directly chosen her as his companion. The woman believed everything she was told and, when she went to the temple at nightfall, she met the equestrian man (who had disguised himself as Anubis) and f*cked with him throughout the night. After spending several days bragging about having slept with a God, the noblewoman was visited by the equestrian man, who told her: "What we did the other night was really magnificent. I wish you hadn't called me Anubis all the time, but at least I didn't pay you anything at the end 😉". Realizing in horror what she had done, the noblewoman and her husband went to Tiberius' palace in order to protest. The emperor then punished the priests by destroying their temple and forbidding the worship of Isis. Despite this prohibition, many people continued to worship her in secrecy, including the future emperor Caligula, although he later renounced his faith to her and declared himself a God after Isis did not save his sister and lover Drusilla from death, despite promising he would build a gigantic temple for the goddess
Egyptians: "Man, our Gods are truly amazing and immortal! There's nothing in this World that could beat..." Emperor Theodosius I: "GET OUT OF MY WAY" *Destroys the Egyptian temples and build Christian churches in their place*
Next vids on Egyptian gods, pls talk about Khonshu and Taweret. God of the moon, youth, and fate. Goddess of fertility, childbirth and family. Maybe also Tefnut who’s the goddess of moisture and fertility.
Btw, when saying khonshu, you're referring to the Marvel character. In mythology, you'd have to type khonsu without the second 'h'to get mythological results instead of marvel ones.
@@purple-axalotl1234 Marvel and rel myth. I've been to Egypt on a vacation before. He's not only of the moon, but also of youth and fate. His actual appearaces is a young green skin man, with a side lock hairstyle.
@@sifilore9462 he's also of fertility and sometimes childbirth incase you didn't know. There are versions where he's a person with a falcon head or where he's green and has a side lock and a key lock necklace. But the name khonsu itself means "traveler," he's a lunar diety tho that's for sure. But marvel in order to differentiate their character from the myth, added and extra 'h' in his name. If you search khonsu you'll get Egyptian art and such but if you search khonshu you'll just get marvel images of moon knight
@@HauntedAnkh And as far as I recall, that was the… only instance of infidelity in Egyptian myth, with no mentions of god-human kids running about unlike another culture I could mention.
you forgot about after Ra retired he told Thoth to take over and you forgot about Nute and Geb has 5 kids the fifth is Horus the elder witch was Horus son of Osirus's brother.
That one is debated on. What you refer to isn't "Horus" it's Horus the elder. And it's a different version of the myth that doesn't aline well with the most commonly known one. And it's not an Egyptian mythology and only found in Greek texts. It's probably a case of Chinese whispers. A story that was told by travelers slowly shaping itself into something new through misunderstandings and language barriers. While the word "brother" of Set is used referring to Horus in some Egyptian texts, in those same texts he is called Seths nephew as well. So there might have been a different meaning for the word "brother" here then an actual brother. That's probably how the Greek version became different from the Egyptian mythology.
I really wonder if each gods title was bestowed upon them after these events. Because there's no way I'm getting into a coffin set up by the God of Evil and destruction
Osyris cheated on Isis w his brothers wife and Isis seems to be fine w it... wow qt the opposite of the greek mythology leads... I love that all are different and bring something new to the table... They definitely embody the treats and values of the peoples of old times... wow
Good thing the Mr Imhotep hasn't seen this... he'd be spamming your comments with how all those gods were black. And all Egyptians were black...and the Chinese...and native Americans....and...
Don't judge but reading the manwha Ennead in have realized they author did her research even though they twisted the story but it made it hard liking Osiris 😂
Typical Osirian heresy. It doesn't mention that Isis conspired and poisoned Ra so her husband Osiris could take the throne. Set who protected Ra and the rest of the Gods from certain death at the hands of Apophis was obliged to get revenge which he did.
Sleeping with his wife didn't help that fact either. Osiris is as good as any 'good' leader, gets the credit like he worked alone. Set was also a god of foreigners and was said to protector Egypt from them. So while Osiris was sitting in his stolen throne, Set was protecting the gods from the Forces of Apophis and foreigners who wished to invade. Peace is all great until you know who's ACTUALLY holding the peace.
Gods I hope appear in a Egypt mythology spin off of lore olympus: AMMIT ANUBIS APEP BASTET GEB HATHOR HORUS ISIS KHEPRI KHONSU NEPHTHYS NUN NUT OSIRIS RA SEKHMET SERKET SET SOBEK TAWERET TEFNUT THOTH
Set lost a ball. He had 4 kids, but the popular myth is that he was infertile, despite having 4-6 kids and being considered a god you prayed to when wanting to get down with some.
@@jonoc3729 true but how come other gods did not seek to become king such as sobek. In one story sobek actually fought and defeated Horus and banished him from a city where Horus was worshipped but they bothe reconciled since without Horus the city was filled with evil. Sobek could have become pharoh
@@spandansahs8816 I mean, its mithology it doesnt have to make sense. But I do believe that Horus being the trueborn son of Osiris is what gives him more legitimacy than the rest.
Kratos once said "There are no good gods boy, thought I taught you that". Spitting facts as always. Also, just throw kratos in their realm so that he can end this whole bs real quick
I don't know if I would call Set the personification of evil, in fact, I don't think there was an Egyptian god who was evil. Set was the personification of chaos, but chaos is not the same as evil.
The only thing I don’t like is that you intentionally made the gods black which is not accurate to the history of Egypt nor the mythology especially that is was depicted serval times that they were either white or yellow skinned
This is a lie. You just want them to be white the depiction is correct 😂 Amun’s birth place was Jebel Barkal in SUDAN. If you want white gods do watch a Thor video
Why did you draw some of them looking like black sub Saharan africans? The common idea that Egyptians were black is a misconception. Look at what Egyptian people look like. You can also look at the portraits found within sarcophagi. They looked more Arab
