It looks to me as though she takes issue with anybody who harms children and women. Fourteen centuries ago, Arab women succeeded in opposing the unilateral use of the male gender in the Koran when its passages referred to both men and women. Their outspoken objection was couched in terms that have remained famous: ‘We have proclaimed our belief in Islam, and done as you have done. How is then that you men should be mentioned in the Koran while we are ignored?’ At the time both men and women were referred to as Muslims, but, in response to the objections voiced by women, Allah henceforward said in the Koran: ‘Al Mouslimeena wal Mouslimat, wal Mou’mineena wal Mou’minat’ (‘The Muslims, men and women, and the believers, men and women’).” Note that there are some interviews here on RU-vid. I’ve only seen the Channel 4 piece, so I can’t comment on the others, but from what I’ve read in her book and heard her say in interview, she seems like a lovely, kind person.

@MR .TEA. In Islam men have their rights and women have their rights. It is not the western world who decides that but Allah and his messenger peace be upon him. We don't need westerners to dictate us what is right and what is wrong. All that they do is taking themselves as references and blame Muslims for not doing as they do. @@ESO529 I am a Muslim but I avoid saying that lately, because many others who declare as muslims feel like they have the right to tell me how to think and how to behave based on that only. Religion was at the begining meant to make people have empathy and understanding for the other independt of who they are. If you would like them to follow your example for their own benefit you would do that without force, and even if they decide not to- one should only say : may God forgive them or guide them. It has become so mechanical and dehumanizing. As for Nawal El Saadawi, independent of her religious beliefs, she was behaving and thinking much more according to religious morals than many who are attacking her on here, and she tried to change the world for better for women and the people. May Allah Almighty forgive her sins and grant her Jannah for the good she has done.

There are many reasons why women get half share, when she couldn’t work because of their kids and the household... and if it is really unreasonable, I am sure that also men will stand up against these injustice laws...
