That eheim mech filtration in the bottom basket is optimal if you want to clean the filter maybe two times per year but very bad as mechanical filtration. Put a 30 ppi foam and some filter floss in the bottom basket to capture most particles in the water column and clean the filter more often.
Good morning thank you very much for the information you provided in your channel. Please I some problem with my filter Professional 3 1200 XL It is working now almost 3 months but the water flow became very very slow!! Do you think I need to clean it or why normally the water flow is less? 2nd thing please about the setup I made the same setup as you. But I saw in another video different way of set up as below from top to bottom Pre filter with coarse foam (blue pad) 1st tray bio media 2nd tray bio media 3 rd tray from top White fine pad Blue fine pad Blue corse pad The person did not put a white pad on the top !!! Is this setup good or it is wrong. On the video he said that white pad at the top will make the bio media dirty as well will clog very fast he mentioned the reason is the water come from up to bottom and go throw mechanical media and then to bio and out again to the aquarium. Please tell me your advise. Thank you
So at the moment I use all my filters without the white pads because the clog up so fast. Basically it does not really matter what order you choose. I would even go so far to say that only Bio media is enough.
@@aquaheli264 what I did is in the last tray I but in bottom some eheim mech with corse foam and white fine pad . But next time I will but no white pad . You are correct white pad clog fast. Thanks for your reply.
el gezouli abdul set is up so you have a coarse pad in the pre filter, then in the bottom try have a course, medium and fine pad in that order. Then fill the next two trays with filter media such as ceramic ring, substrate pro or bio home ultimate. This is how it should be set up. Watch the pondgurus video is your still unsure
Hi really nice ,for priming don't you need to fill it with water , or just connect electricity and hit the prime button. ? Or hit prime button and when water is start to circle then connect to electricity. Please advise me? I know where to put the fine white pad now I co concentrate at your vedio it is above the 1st bio media tray. Thanks and I wait your reply. Nasir
You can fill the canister with water if you want, but it is not necessary. The filter will fill it self when you hit the prime button multiple times. It is important that the prefilter is empty (the first tray with blue foam). So you can do it either way.
@@aquaheli264 hi there ok I got your point understood what you mean . Today I received my new filter an it is huge , I just chose to use the prime bottom and it did work . It is a nice filter . As per you exepriance I have 10 discus fish and I feed 3 times , do you think cleaning the filter every 3 month is ok or what is your suggestion. I use the same setup of eheim .?
The exposure time to low amount of chlorine or chloramine is too short to really kill off most bacteria, besides that top coarse foam is there as settlement and prefilter, not biological filtration.
Excellent video, just a small advise wash your canister and the media with tank water for best results, try to clean your filter and have the water change on the same day that way you can have all the water you want to clean the filter and the media, also dont clean the bio media like 100% just rinsing 2 or 3 times and add sponges and fine pad at the bottom then the bio media. Good luck
You should have your coarse pre filter sponge then in the very bottom tray a coarse, medium then fine pad. Then your two trays on top can be filled with bio media. It is the best way to filter tank water and keep your bio media clean.
Hi thanks for the vedio. Please I need your help and advise I have 600 L aquarium and I have discus fish. I want to buy a filter but I am confused between eheim Professional 3 2080 and fluval fx6, which one you think is good ,quite and can do good job. Thank you very much
@@aquaheli264 good Morning on the 2080 I could see at the setup of Eheim at the first 2 trays the put bio media and on the last tray pre filter ceramic rings , and there no sponge as in all filters I used before, please tell me does the ceramic rings are better that the foams as a mechanical filtration. Thank you very much
@@aquaheli264 Good Morning I have a question as I already bought the pro filter, and I look at the media setup I can see no foam as mechanical media in any of the 3 trays instead the Eheim advise is to use ceramic rings a pre filter mechanical filtration, do you use this way or do you use foam . Is it good to use mechanical media ceramic rings. Thank you for your help
Thank you for your question. I would always recommend to use ceramic material instead of foam. Because it has a much bigger surface area than foam and is because of this way better in biological filtration. If you really want the best mechanical filtration use ceramics and so very fine padding (the white stuff). :)
The filter is set up wrong bottom tray needs course foam fine foam and floss not floss at the top ehime really need to rethink how there filters are set up
Hi there I have a problem I need some help with, my Eheim professional 3 is not powerful on the output, I have just cleaned it and I am now experiencing this problem, any advice?
Hi if your filter seems like it’s losing power then check the output connector, it’s the red rubber connector on inside of motor, these over time can shrink and become loose so water is escaping back into your filter, I’ve replaced mine once in 9yrs.! Part no eheim 7428830, quick fix cable tie around motor housing and red seal, it stops it popping out from output, but they are cheap to buy👍
It depends on where you live and how long you rinse it. For instance, I can do a 90% water change with city water without any de-chlorinator and never kill a fish. In certain parts of the world you can even taste the chlorine, the concentration is so high.
Hehe, auf dem original Video waren nur 34% der views aus Deutschland. Und als dann einer in den Kommentaren nach englisch gefragt hat hab ich mir gedacht... Was solls versuch ich es mal 😃
Dont know were your from i have used tab water to clean filters No problem With 15 years+ in the hobby im from denmark and our tab water is All natural No clorine or chemicals in it.
