Sir, 15 years I have been interested about Discus(I have 10 big discus in 120gallons water) for the whole time I haven't heard anyone else so clearly and convincingly and with "no secret" explained how to take care Discus. You do a good job. Great respect!
Please Gabriel help me with this test issue.. I’m doing water change almost every day .. my ph and ammonia is good but nitrates no Matter I do water change light red color always . My discus are happy eating good .. I have a lot plants 🌱 bamboo too .. fish happy .. should I be worried about nitrates ??? Thank you 🙏
Gabe, i've been watching tons of fish keeping videos for a year and your video has been one of, if not the best video i've come across. Clear, edifying and straight to the point. Thank you. Now i think i can really take care of Discus fish which i have long admired.
I think even Tubifex- the favorite food of the Discus, will get you one day. They come from and are collected in filthy waters. It's a wonder the collectors don't get typhoid. I think of Beef heart as clean Tubifex, and I like Tetra Mins high color flake food as a good replacement for Brine Shrimp. I wouldn't push 10 Discus in 100 gallons. One large happily mated pair for a decade is all I ask for a 100 gallon. Even for growing or show..6 in a 100 gallon is max. Six should make you just as happy as ten I say.
That was some of the most solid advise I have ever seen on discus. I have raised them for years. So many people give wrong advise. Only thing you left out was the salt content :)
Gabe is top notch, the best! I’ve called and he really does answer. All fish that my husband and I have purchased from him, are healthy with no problems or deaths. Love the videos, Gabe!!!!
Great video - love that you guys have started doing more content. Would love to see a short vid on the feeding quantities of beefheart and if you feed live foods to induce spawning! Keep it up Gabe content is awesome !!!!
Great video, MR. Gabe, what is the max tds from tap water for discus keeping (not breeding)? And what about other worm eg. Tubifex Worms or others like Brine Shrimp, krill ... Thanks in advance
Sir after using formline in fish tank what is the water change 100% or 50% because after using formaline my 2 month fry r diying daily because I have changed only 20% water change.
Gracias por toda tu información! Apreciaríamos mucho que hagas videos en español, porque aquí en España, somos muchos que te seguimos, y aunque te entendemos, algunas cosas se nos escapan. Saludos!

I work at a petstore I will abide by those rules my guy I am getting to setup my first discus tank.. I need to absorb your info. If you don't have plant's 84-86fh? I can put plants in, I have the nutrition? This is some passion project or what? How could you possibly explain discus in 6 mins???
Hello sir, I am new in keeping Discus. Have some questions. 1. Does light play any role in keeping and rearing Discus? 2. Is there any age specific diet chart for Discus? Asking this because, this question just came to my mind, if we don't give the same food to the children and the adults in our family, then there should be some specifications for the fishes too? Is my thinking wrong? 3. Does it matter if we keep the tank on the floor or on a shelf? Looking forward to your response.
Can you you API Zyme Stress once weekly to prevent bacteria infections and clean clear water because I don't have time to change water weekly and don't mind slow growing as long they live very long live, well fed, and zero infections
I just visited this place today and wow. I always thought salt water aquarium had the most beautiful looking fish until I saw these amazing discus fish in this store. Just amazing. The guys there even the customers can give you good advice so I’m setting up tank and will go back soon to purchase some fish.
Hi thank you so much for all this information my question is can I put a breeding pair of longfin super red bristlenose with the discus? Also would the discus eat the baby bristlenose?
Hey Gabe, I thought it was old black worms (ie not California blackworms) back in the day and also tubifex worms that caused hex in discus. Never knew frozen bloodworms were a problem? I’ve been feeding them for years to my discus and Altums along with brine shrimp and white worms I raise. Are you positive about this?
Well I broke a couple of those rules and that’s probably why I lost two fish. One didn’t surprise me he didn’t seem right from the get go but the other one was fine and then all of a sudden was dead the next morning. I had eight discus and I have my tank is 50 gallons in my sump holds about 12 gallons so I probably should’ve kept six not eight or want to water changes a week. Never thought about aging the water
I'm getting 6 juvenile discus and I have bn researching for past 48hrs. Tnx this is a simple video compared to the rest. Just maintain 86 degree temp and no community style for now. Got it, tnx
Thanks for the great advice! Something I picked from your video, you said tetra can be kept with them, but all my tetras are being eaten alive! What to do?
Hey. I had a question. I have a blood pigeon and it's still a juvenile and I wanted to ask why is my blood pigeon getting black spots on its body and it doesn't have complete lines but half in the body. Is it a matter of concern?
I called Jack Wattley inquiring about an order. Gabe picked up the phone and started cussing. That's when i know, Gabe is the real deal. My people. LOL
This is the same advice I’ve heard since the 70’s and it’s still solid good advice now! You know your business no doubt about it! I enjoyed watching! Thank you for sharing!
