I just saw the “thing” you did in your insta story, I’m not gonna spoil it for people who haven’t seen it, but I’m VERY excited to see it soon!

Wonderful (as always)! Wish you would do obscure stuff like "Crying waiting hoping" or other songs from the Audition tapes or rarities such as "I'll be on my way", "Bad to me" etc! I never grow tired of your channel. Many are attempting to recreate those songs, bt never with such a degree of perfection, THANKS Michael!

This one makes me feel so HAPPY. Your song selections are always perfect. Your analysis on/of “Now and Then” was heartfelt and spot-on. Your insight in to this mesmerizing entity belies your younger years. I’m 63 and can tell you quite honestly “you get it”. (And I went to the first Beatlefest ever in 1974 when I was 13….)

I often think. Your J160E sounds really good!!! I really like the sound of your J160E!! And above all, it sounds like the Beatles❤❤

Outstanding. Enjoyed watching and listening very much. This is quite a catchy tune, and one of the outstanding songs from an era when the Beatles weren't quite at their peak. They were no longer the mop tops, and they hadn't quite reached the level of new ideas and sounds that would be marked by "Rubber Soul" and would continue through "Revolver" and "Sgt. Pepper". They were, effectively, the best band in the world but with no obvious new direction. The American album, "Beatles VI" was actually a bit weak, with only this song and "What You're Doing" being of strong appeal to most of us 15-year-old kids. Sure there was good stuff on the album, but maybe not quite as good on every song.
@BeatlesCentricUniverse
@BeatlesCentricUniverse 7 месяцев назад
No offense intended, but since the Beatles had nothing to do with the American releases, perhaps you need to reframe your comment in context.
@gdholmfirth
@gdholmfirth 7 месяцев назад
@@BeatlesCentricUniverse I was referring to the album selections on Beatles VI, which were not as strong top to bottom as previous albums. I wanted to say that this song and "What You're Doing" were by far my favorites and carried the album which was, in America, basically a compilation. That's all.

Amazing! Quick question...for these vocal mixes, in your experience, do the original songs stay in time 100% or are there slight variations here and there? If so, how do contend with that? What's your approach in general?
@gdholmfirth
@gdholmfirth 7 месяцев назад
Good question!
@MichaelSokil
@MichaelSokil 7 месяцев назад
both! I use an actual beatles track as my backing track when I record these, but for some reason the tempo on the vocal tracks I find can vary. I’m not entirely sure why there’s a slight tempo difference between versions, but it happened here. the vocal track I found was a little slower, so yes I had to change the alignment for each verse. but others line up perfectly? weird!

When Giles Martin remixed this he left the original sloppy drums track open on the ending edit piece. The original mixes of course muted the bad drums. Unbelievable that no one at Abbey Road or Apple noticed the error.

Is it just this channel? Have they fiddled with their algorithm or is there someone back at RU-vid towers, in his office, sayin' oh it's Mike again, he's a good lad and flipping the ok switch? Or is maybe the usual guy on holiday?

@OxenOrb2
@OxenOrb2 7 месяцев назад
It’s a volume pedal, George used it around this time, you can hear it more prominently in the main riff of ‘I Need You’

These are easy because they're old videos! I made this one in 2022. Adding vocals is the new part, and I've made some changes in the mix. I love sharing these - I think they're more watchable than the original - so I'm releasing them one-per-week while I work on my next new videos!

There's not enough treble on the 12 string. Not bright like the original. You need that bright chimy sound.

Did you change it? I think what's causing the conflict is the drums are louder than the original. Pot them down some in that some only. It's putting bass into it that was not originally there.. But I would love to see you do She Loves You. Everything is easy on that song except for the Lennon rhythm. I'm sure you know about those isolated tracks on You Tube. No secrete there. Your competition thinks Lennon is just strumming up and down with the high hat. Nope. He's got his own thing going as only Lennon can do and getting that part right is the big challenge of the entire song. It's what puts the song in motion. To get It right I would think you would have to write the entire strumming pattern down. It's that unique! Your competition thinks George is playing that part. Nope. It's Lennon with his J160E. George is just playing the fills to my ears. Listen to the stripped tracks and you can pick most of it out that's not in the mud. @@MichaelSokil 😃
