The name of the cat Lena gave which is "Teppy" is actually from the name "TP" which Shin named the cat this one time. It's the abbreviated form of "Thermopylae" which was one of the books Shin was reading. The story was about the famous 300 Spartan soldiers that fought against the massive Persian army.

Tiny little detail, Lena named the came Teppy which is short for Thermopylae, which brings to mind Battle of Thermopylae from Greece history, which was portrayed in the movie 300.

His brother saved them all together. I believe his brother didnt die completely and transformed his brain data to another unit in disguise, during the process it got out of the legion's control (along the lines). Basically, Shin's brother had been following them throughout the trip, which you could reflect back to the bit where sometimes Shin could sense the legion in front of the tunnel and says "nevermind". So here, his brother in a machine carries Shin and his comrades to the Edge of Empires before getting destroyed by the army. Quite sad tbh.

@@Iconic_Scarab Well the empire did say a what was that legion model and it was a Dinosoria which are not normal legion types and are usually only controlled by shepherds so I say it is quite the possibility

@@Iconic_Scarab It's stated in the novels that due to the destruction of the Dinosauria housing Rei, Legion Protocols concerning Shepherds immediately went into effect, transferring his mind to the nearest possible unit. But, the unit he got transferred to was already damaged therefore loosening the control the Legion had over him. In Ep 11, when Shin asks himself whose name he'll call out, it cuts to a shot of Rei's dogtag on the floor glittering and then the screen suddenly gets brighter. That was Rei coming to their rescue, him firing shots. He then picked the 5 of them up using his liquid nanomachine arms and took them with him to where the Federacy is. Giad patrols spotted them and Rei felt relief so he let himself get destroyed without fighting back. And the rest is as you see in the anime.

This is really late so no one might see this but there is some information I heard a while back the might alleviate some of the confusion about the first season’s ending. This is hearsay from another source so take it with a grain of salt. The first season is based on the first volume of the light novel. Now that volume was written for a competition and one of the rules was that the story needed to be self contained. So the original ending did have shin die and leave Lena’s fate ambiguous. But, the author wanted to continue the story, so the ending was changed to have shin’s party survive. The way they survived was already explained by other comments. Season 1’s ending might have been a reference to the original ending. I have yet to find a reputable source confirm this but from what I have seen after reading the light novels and some forums it seems to be true. Again this is hearsay so it may be wrong.

Sry for the off topic but the recent haikyuu annoucement is totally dissapointing they cant possibly fit 110 chapters in 2 movies without butchering the pacing and cutting big moments. Please read the manga teddy it's absolutely phenomenal ! (From chapter 293)

No sadly its been confirmed its gonna be 2 movies to adapt the rest of the manga. Since manga is finished and anime seasons are mainly done to bring people to the manga they probably didnt wanna invest in anime seasons. so they will do movies. Im sure theyll look great but theres no way the rest of the story can be adapted in 2 movies. And trust me the manga is phenomenal i was hesitant too to read the manga but im so glad i did
