@@ritchmensmediathat man didn't finish or even detail the import duty fully. They use this calculation for long time which is wrong. They use the manufacturers retail price when the vehicle was made and sold new to calculate the import duty for a depreciated vehicle, instead of calculating the duty with the depreciated price from the dealer. Plus they charge tax duty on the cost of freight (which is the amount you paid for shipment), plus VAT Plus all other taxes and levies like ECOWAS levy, NHIL levy, Africa Union Levy, Inspection, VAT, Covid levies (there is about 3 different covid fees added), plus penalties if any. So you can imagine buying a used car for less and your duty is calculated with the brand new price (MSRP) instead of the actual price which is the depreciated amount you bought the car, plus they charge you duty on all your total cost of freight/shipment plus VAT, plus all the taxes and levies listed above to be added. There are some more hidden fees that are not even in my list above. This is why they delibrately disabled the PAARS system constantly to make it impossible for people to be aware or see the daylight robbery going on. Even after checking the duty online, shat they give you at the ports is way more than what thier own applications say, and its also based on dollar rates, so the duty also goes up with the dollar.
But u guys should have done your research on what the man said in the video to verify if its true or not and also u guys need to do more checks to know why the duties is that high at least it help ,but u guys are just talking with no fact and basing all your fact on a 1min video someone said 😢
