This is really cool, it gives some variety to the usual large carnivores of the ark this is something different i think we need more stuff like this in the future
I respect it but definitely not for me lol. This was a fantastic idea and I love the black and white film for the screen idea. I'm curious though, when will you check out the Noxcalvasaurus?

As much as I love scientifically accurate dinosaurs, I also love retro designs as well, just something about slow lumbering "terrible lizards". It's probably because I'm huge Godzilla fan and his design was based on the retro design of dinosaurs.
Ngl, im not huge on the combining of Laelaps with a vintage rex, as the jumping aspect is kinda the only thing that has to do with it (hence the term "leaping Laelaps"). Otherwise its just an old rex depiction, the jumping doesn't really fit a creature of its size and kinda goes against how they were typically portrayed. I would have used the name Dynamosaurus (a dubious name for Tyrannosaurus) for this design and move the jumping aspect to a more faithful Laelaps in terms of size and function/design. Regardless though, seeing more vintage depictions are dinosaurs in places is nice to see ^^
This mod is best thing ever I have see. I have magazine "Dinosaur Movies The Complete History Dinosaur". This mod is just chef kiss. This mod make me read that magazine again. many classic retro dinosaur appear in 1950s. Movies, comics, and t.v shows. Also this mod remind me of Carnosaur and Primal Rage Arcade Game.
So, the combination of stats and abilities is in no way balanced, but it’s not stupid broken. More importantly... I...I did not want to like a retrodino. I never asked for a four-way cross among a Rex, trike, wolf, and procoptodon. But I... like this? I like this. I can see elements of lizard species I have personally worked with in the face and markings. The details on the vintage cosmetic and rivalry are great. The tongue ties it together so well. It’s too much of everything ability-wise for my taste (I like weaknesses and niche partitioning), but it’s just a great creature from such an old-fashioned inspiration. That feels really weird to say in a game about prehistoric creatures. This whole thing is quaint. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, Becca, as always your laughter is infectious
Would love to see Agathaumas I love it has a buff against other big carnivores because the others are more modern in appearance Man I just love Retrosaurs
RETRO LIBARD !!!! I love this silly guy And I also really like the fact it's just a knockout tame, simple as, a nice change of pace from complicated taming methods
I love this thing with all my heart... I've wanted retrosaurs for Ark for a long time now. However, one criticism I have... is the saddle. The beast itself looks fantastic, but the saddle "seat" is massively oversized, and humans look odd sitting atop it. The saddle model itself looks good, but too big. I know I sound nitpicky, but often times a good saddle can elevate a good creature design even further. Regardless, I'm absolutely downloading this mod
oooooo retrosaur Dryptosaurus, awesome concept. I love my more accurate depictions, but I adore the Gwangi and Charles R Knight's painting, so this is definitely gonna be one of my favourite groups of mods I feel.
Cracked me up. Evo rex looks at you all loving while the laelaps just gives no shits. Lol What a cool creature. Edit: I just realized. It's walk and stance also reminds me of really old Godzilla. And I'd love to see a baby laelaps.
Ah yes the average Ark survival evolved player i have had the same issue with MANY costumes if I had to take a wild guess the Vintage costume was in the cosmetics in the player inventory :P
About the Trait thing When the Ab update came out Super Spy Glass just had it immediately I think trait counts as a status effect, so any spyglass form modded or not can see it
I love how the vintage laelaps is black and white, like the old colourless movie filter you get from it. the skins in general are amazing imo, a perfect blend between clean fades and fancy pattern detail
This mod is not my cup of tea, but I can really appreciate the creativity here. I think they did a really good job with what they wanted to do and the vintage camera skin is really awesome
when I first had a look at this I was really unsure about it but now seeing how wonderfully it's animated and now seeing it closer, it just looks amazing
slit pupils are a trait of nocturnal animals, not ambush ones. lions and tigers and wolves all have circle pupils because they are diurnal hunters. crocodiles, house cats and a lot of snakes have the slits because they are nocturnal hunters
Interesting, I read it was in regards to being able to focus their vision through obscured environments, such as between tall grass Either way though, whether for ambush or nocturnal, it's to help focus their vision to pinpoint specific targets
Eish really tried hard to do that, bless him. I don't know the exact details about it but I've heard tail IK is a nightmare to work with. He's mentioned potentially trying to add it in a future update
Yeah I kinda figured there was some sort of technical limitation to it sounds like everyone has been have trouble with tail physics regardless he did a great job modernizing and bring that old school dinosaur concept to ark
It's nice to see that I'm not the only one that forgets the cosmetic tab is a thing. So incase anyone else does kill the vintage one, check there for the costume
Its well funny i guess 😂 I think tristan has kind of a similar creature planned which he had shown in a mod video. Other than that its interesting but kinda awkward.
