@@redstratus97 Addict from the Iron Lords Podcast. Why though? Who cares about console preference? XBox is making moves, getting more love from Asian devs, including JRPG's, and much of it is coming to game pass. Heck, this game is on game pass. No one is saying that it needs to become her preferred platform.
I recently discovered your channel while searching for a review of Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection for the PSP. I have to say, you provide a very charming and informative review. Consider me a new subscriber. I am looking forward to more entertaining yet insightful reviews. Keep up the good work. :)
Honestly sometimes I love simple fetch quests, especially if the gameplay is fun. The chain attacks look so satisfying to pull off here! I'm not one of the many who plan to play Eiyuden Chronicle when it comes out but can't wait to hear more about it and my fingers are crossed it's as good as it's looking.
This was the game I spent most of my time playing over Christmas last year. It makes a very nice palate cleanser-style game between meatier experiences. Combat is simple but fun and the mechanics are engaging enough to fill out the modest run-time. Things do get a litte tedious if you go for 100% completion with the back and forth collecting. At a certain point I just stopped optimising my accessory build because going into the menu to adjust for different elemental statuses in each changing area was just a pain. Of course 100% is by no means necessary and by the end at max level with best gear it didn't really matter what the game threw at me. A recommend if you want something light, fun, and quick.
I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. I even got the Platinum! A great forAy into the world of Eiyuden and a nice introduction to some of its colourful cast. Showing CJ, Garoo and Isha with their updated looks for the main game was a nice touch too, can't wait to learn about what they've been up to.
I thought this was a cute fun introduction to the world of Eiyuden, and enjoyed my time. Can't wait to get into the meat of the world with the main game. I hope this is the beginning of a very long series.
Very nice! I was not necessarily looking to pick this up, but I think you convinced me. I don't have quite as much free time these days, so a short-ish RPG may be a selling point for something for a nice weekend or two.
Played this game too when I helped kickstart Eiyuden Chronicles. Honestly, for what it's worth, this game was alright. It wasn't sensational, and didn't need to be. It just did enough to satiate my Suikoden appetite while Eiyuden gets going, even if it won't come til' next year, just like the Suikoden HD series next year.
Got this 100%ed to prepare for 100 Heroes, not a bad game overall. It's also a fair Platinum Trophy for Playstation, nothing bullshit but nothing too easy.
Me, I have now purged myself of any interest to Suikoden and the former world. The fact that Konami would use Murayamas own creation against him in order to undermine his work with Rabbit and Bear studios is a testimate of how truly evil this company can be. I will no longer be spending anymore money on that old world and will not even bother going out of my way to like anything about it on youtube (just let that series die already).
The Hundred Heroes one looks more my type. Whether I get it or not is to be decided. Usually when games have a huge variety of characters or character choice options, the stories tend to be lack luster. Similar to my experience with Indivisible and the Star Ocean series.
Star ocean series, is actually more patience i am playing departure r and lemme tell you its really fun if you have patience lol. I cant wait for second story! I love star ocean from ps2 :) . If eiyuden chronicle is the same as star ocean im buying everything for it! Hehe. As long its over 50 hours ill be good cuz i need games thats over 20 hours of play time. Lol.
@@davidtirlokhi4954 I get it. I didn't have the patience to make it even half way into First Departure for psp. But for Second Story, End of Time, and Last Hope, I believe I got to the halfway points at least. My patience for those games never ended up paying off as I completely lost interest in the games. I put about 20-40 hours in each game. Last Hope was the one I enjoyed the most due to being more of a standard styled RPG. As for the others, the lack of character development killed my enjoyment.
@@SeveredEverlastingWorldLore Buf theres one thing you should do, its not the boredom or lack of interest im not a 100%er but if you started sumn you should finish it to know what the outcome should be. Its actually worth it lol. Im already putting 8 hours in for 2 days straight lol. Died 3x but im getting pretty addicted to the story. Im at the part of departure r where the crash just happened lol. So im not that far into the story but gameplay is 8 hours lmao.
@@davidtirlokhi4954 Maybe I'll finish them if after I've played other stuff. There are a good amount of games I haven't finished but want to get around to, and those that I really have no intention to come back to. I highly doubt I'll ever get back to Second Story since my save data is gone. The rest is not likely since other RPGs have my attention. These days I'd rather not my time, so who knows if I'll ever see the outcomes.
@@SeveredEverlastingWorldLore what if i give you up the update on departure r then, because I have met up with ronyx and millie hehe now we are on the way to asmodeus and the archfiend.
Just got this off eshop last night after finally seeing an official release date for hundred hero’s. Only played a couple hrs so far and while I understand the criticisms of it being a bit simple or fetch quest heavy those don’t bother me it has a charm to its world and the writing while I don’t think is the best ever is pretty good. It feels solid for such a low budget kickstarter goal game. Can’t wait to jump back in and get a taste of this world being built for hundred heroes in April. Love suikoden growing up.
Well she’s a rather talented artist in that case. Yeah, back in the early days of Suikosource when all we had was Suikoden 1, 2, and the two Suikogaiden volumes to work with, I had a rival from Indonesia to develop detailed and well read content for that sites forums. It was basically combat in the form of developing poetic literature. He was actually a Chinese national and was only a year older then me when we first met (My title by the way was simply Suikodenfan and his was Zhugeliang). It was a cute rivalry to be honest, because well, not to sound mildly racist or anything, but the fact that he was an East Asian and me being North American white, sorta created a Ryu vs Ken type dynamic to it. At least to his credit he went out of his way to study and learn English in order to compete with me. Oh Zhuge, if only Eiyuden would draw you back to us, wonder what he’s up to now?
Ok Iam officially losing my marbles. I was suppose to give this message to a women who I gave a complement to in the RU-vid algorithm. But for some reason it got lead to the public section. Dear god, things were so much easier back in the day when we were just using forum message boards in order to develop and distribute information.
Also, look at me, 39 and still playing videogames (talk about creepy). Well when your forced to live on a pension and college has always been to costly. Then what do you got to lose. I’m going to chose my Eiyuden avatar eventually, mine was Templeton back in the day due to my fascination with Suikoden geography. I’ll select someone in there late 30s perhaps from the Galdean Empire. I would chose Seign Kesling if it we’re back in the day, however, to do so now would be creep factor six right there. Anyone else know who they will be selecting, by the way, for their Eiyuden Avatars? Just wondering?
Ill reconsider my thumbs down if you explain what you mean by “misleading”. Perhaps I was to hasty in my liking routine when I looked at this one... Your right, I shall overturn the verdict and give you a thumbs.
First positive review I have seen with this game. Seriously. Many of the other JRPG RU-vidrs did not like this one. Very interesting to hear this perspective.
I'm actually familiar with a lot of those games Hiroyuki Itwatsuki worked on; it's a little weird to hear it not in chiptune, but this seems like a good soundtrack. The game seems cool, too; I've been on the fence about it for a while, but I think I might look into it. The action areas remind me a little of a Mega Man X game with the flow of the dashing. Funny timing, too; I'm finishing up a run of X6 right now, and I'll be playing the first two Suikoden games once I finish.
I played Suikoden 1 and 2 myself. You will really enjoy its sound track too. I was also very into the SNES MegaMan series and thought it had an excellent sound track. So are you part of the Suikosource forum boards yet?
@@RyanSmith-to6gi They were indeed fun to revisit; I put together party combinations I'd never even considered in all the playthroughs I've made over the last 20+ years. I only just became aware of Suikosource during this replay of 2, but I'm not a terribly social creature, so I haven't belonged to any kind of forums since my days at GameFAQs, which is longer ago than I can even remember; Backloggery is about as close as I get.
I love this game. I love that there are over 160 side quests that all support progression through the stamp card. Farming materials in the dungeons is also pretty fun.
I wonder if this game is catered to a female audience. Thoughts? and I have spent hours upon hours watching this game on RU-vid and supporting it in any possible way I can. What if CJ and AIsha were your girlfriends wouldn’t you want them to be treated well and have nice things said about them. Also on that note, when I obtain a copy of Eiyuden Chronicle this April, during random encounters where I’m supposed to fight and kill female opponents, my finger will go straight to the run away option. Thanks.
"I took 25 hours somehow..." The look on your face I've made many times. "I'm 300 hours into Final Fantasy Tactics, so why haven't I beat it yet?" "I have 450 hours in Xenoblade Chronicles X. Why am I still playing it?" "Am I EVER going to beat Strange Journey?"
I somehow manage to double or even triple the claimed gameplay hours for RPGs and adventure games. I mean, I do hit all side quests and explore thoroughly, but it still seems excessive lol.
@@Xoulrath_ What you're saying is that RPGs are the best and you savor them like a fine vintage instead of devour them like junk food. That just means you're awesome.
I genuinely couldn’t play it. I wanted to support them because I’m so excited for ECHH but the game was literally a side quest simulator where you’d run back and forth while playing the most mind numbing combat in between
Iam 39 years old and have been a veteren of this series since I was 14 and in Highschool. I have lived to see the old world of Suikoden grow, prosper, stagnate, and die before my very eyes. Iam sold as an Eiyuden absolutist and wish to see no harm done to this series during its reign on Earth. I have no knowledge of things like which system does what or whatever “X” is suppose to mean. The reason I gave you a thumbs down because you called here a weirdo that’s why. Sorry people, things are starting to get dicy now I should start getting more rest infact.
The only reason this is so sucessful is because the kickstarter is directly tied to Suikoden, but the game is anything but. Its decent for a platformer but deffinitly will not even come close to reaching the ambitious project of the Hundred Day Heroes game which is a spirtual sucessor to the Suikoden series with many of the original development team staff members working on it. I played for a bit but i got a bit bored after a while, its nothing you would not find in a typical phone or gacha title. Sea of stars how ever?? Thats another story.
But I don't think it was trying to be. It was meant to wet the palette and it did just that. This was a very nice, simple rpg to keep the hype alive, and I think it succeeded.
Agreed. Don’t understand what people like about it so much. The game is alright but the story is very basic, simple and short and the side content is incredibly repeatable. Even the combat is pretty clunky and not as fluid as it could be. The game is about 6/10 in my opinion. It has potential but it definitely has issues too
@@ddrrdd1010combat isn't clunky at all. If you approach it like it's an action game, you'd think that. Buts not, it's an action rpg with a very distinct rhythm and flow to the combat.
