A lot of haters talking crap about a class act. It’s not his fault he was thrust into an inept organization with a coach who was forced to bench him and refused to give him time to develop. It’s literally been the same story of every QB the Bills drafted between Kelly and Allen. Guys with potential being put into a terrible situation, destined to fail. E J was a great dude and had been the first duel-threat quarterback putting that extra spark into the offense since Losman (like it or not, Losman was the first QB after Kelly to complete a 16-game season as the starter and was also a slightly above average rusher). Obviously, when you’re in the middle of a playoff drought, you hope every guy they draft is “it.” I’m not saying E J would have been what we have now in JA17, but our owner and front office/coaching staff certainly didn’t help him.
Yes. Didn't Manuel pull the Bills fat out of the fire in the final seconds at the end of that one game when they hosted Minnesota? He was good enough then.
only game i missed that year. I was in college at the time and was massively hungover from a wild party the night before. I woke up during the final play and was like the fuck ?
It still pains me that Woods is not still on this team. His double block to spring Throd in that Titans game exemplified the kinda player he was… and you’d think the kind this current regime would want.
When did all the banners and signs that the fans used to make and hang on the field level walls disappear? Maybe the rich NFL owners did not like them. I remember the Bills, for a couple of years anyway, had the phone number and website to order tickets placed on the wall at one end zone. The players wore more pads back then and that was not even that long ago. For example, knee, butt, and side pads in their uniform bottoms. Must be for speed and mobility. The team was entertaining on offense at times with the catching of Woods, Smith, Goodwin, Johnson, Jackson, and Chandler. Sammy Watkins was a bust, considering all that the Bills had to give for him and C.J. Spiller thrilled fans with the occasional long TD run but ultimately was not a game changing back. I still remember watching them on NFL Sunday ticket at the sports bar.
The 2013 hype was real until he sprained his knee against Cleveland on that Thursday night. I thought our drought was ending that year man. Who knows. If he never hurt that knew what his trajectory would be ... We have orton in 14?! Idk
Yep totally remember that. He showed promise. He really did. Kobb was supposed to hold down the fort for a bit and ej was thrown in way too early, yet made the best of it and looked fine. That browns game could be why. I remember we looked great that game and spiller was lighting it up.
I’m in shock it was actually almost 12 mins of footage. I totally was expecting five at the most. I do not miss this era of Buffalo Bills football... at ALL! Tyrod is next - his Bills highlight reel is actually impressive.
I remember being impressed with Manuel in the 2013 preseason and the first few games of the regular season. Then he gets injured in Cleveland and never really found his footing from there. I don't think he's a particularly good QB, but it would've been interesting to see how his career would've played out if he was allowed to have played out his first two seasons.
I feel like Marone did not like him from the get go because he didn't have a say in the draft and got him out first chance he got. Rex said it was going to be a fair competition in camp, but he clearly had a hard on for Taylor because EJ had a great preseason. The O-line was always suspect until recently, so I always wondered if that had been worked on if any of our wash outs would have performed better. Even the commentator in one of the clips said it, if EJ gets time, he can make a play and he sure never got a lot of time lol
What the hell were the Bills thinking drafting EJ Manuel 16th overall in the 2013 draft year when the quartbacks in that draft were weak and extremely thin? EJ Manuel sucked. Let's hope Josh Allen pans out from the deep QB draft of 2018 for the Bills.
2014... The Bills get Sammy Watkins. Had the GM and other such folks been a little more critical in their thinking, they might've taken Odell Beckham Jr. --- instead of him going to the Giants(and now Browns).
