Eric's whole tone string stretch vibrato has to be one of the most beautiful and seamless vibrato's there has ever been on a guitar....incredible. Ever since I first heard him do it I've continued to be blown away by it - It's so damn authentic sounding!!!.....If that was all he had he'd still be a phenomenal player.. but then you take into account everything else he has revolutionized on the guitar, his accuracy, his tone, his unique chord game, his picking speed, his unique approach to pentatonic scales, his harmonics, his finger picking, the list just goes on and on and on.....it's frightening!!! When I think of the word's 'scholar' and 'guitar' there isn't any one that showcases that better than Eric. And what a lovely gentle human being too! Truly one of the best players (if not THE best in my opinion) of the 20th and 21st centuries, so often criminally underrated in 'best guitarist's lists'..... Thank you Eric for inspiring me for the last 15 years to stick with this instrument. You are an eternal inspiration and no one can surpass your contribution to the instrument. A true musical genius :)
Ha! Ha!….Doesn’t matter if he’s stroking a Strat or a Les Paul. That freaking ethereal TONE is still in the house…..This video will shake a few guitar brand purists up a little! LOL!
These lessons are so great. can you pull the camera back just a little to let us visualize the right hand and the left . so grateful for this series. I've already donated and learned.
Everything about these mini lessons is great - they’re the highlight of my RU-vid views, I hope you continue forever :) Thank you! (Food bank donations, CHECK!)
Eric i listen this over and over and over again. Your tone, your phrasing, your licks, and now this new idea, i never heard anything like this. Sometimes if you hit the low notes it sounds like a baritone clarinet , like you hear in the old disney movie jungle book, beautiful
Amazing how switching guitars from time to time can really help slow things down a bit and savor certain notes. Loved seeing/hearing your Les Paul. Still 100% Eric, just with a slightly different voice :-)
Legend. So right about holding the note and leaving space. I also do the same when recording and see that I could've held a note longer for better effect! Great tips as always. Did I say? Legend.
Vibrato and bending is what I like in playing guitar. It is making like singing voice with guitar. I like bends little out of tune sometimes, not much. Gives your DNA to them ha ha. Best lesson this!
another fantastic and inspiring lesson, thank you, Eric! I especially like the idea of practicing these concepts in keys I tend to avoid, like Eb or Ab ("nah, let's play that in E or A and tune down a half-step") Keep up the great work you are doing and stay healthy (and sane)!
Um just a warning. Be advised those individuals that clicked on the thumb pointing in the descending direction will probably be going to ‘Guitar Hell’. After all it is pointing down. Duh! Just saying.
I like to bend some notes ever so slighty just to give them personality and also like to do quick half step slides to the notes i want to hit, makes your playing sound expensive
Gennaro Anesi Sure, if you like going to the chiropractor to get your disjointed shoulder repaired. Basswood or poplar for me. I want the lightest weight electric guitar as possible. Acoustic guitars, the wood matters. With electrics, the wood does not matter. It is the nut and the bridge saddles, pickups.
Oha, first 'guitar face' I've seen in a long time from eric. I love that super expressive style. I guess it's the Paula bringing it out. ;) Also donation to the food bank is on it's way. Thanks, Maestro.
It can come from a few things. Most likely, the stereo amps he uses for clean tone having some ground interference, or the Gibson he's playing very likely doesn't have wax potted pickups, considering its age, and is getting interference with the lights in the room, or other electronics that are around.
Damn his tone with an LP and this tasty bluesy playing with awesome bends (sry if i got that wrong about the bluesy part, its just what it reminds me) resembled me a lot of Chris poland which is another phenomenal guitar player with great clean low gain'ish and distinctive style player (ex megadeth if you arent familliar with him). It may be just the tone though GREAT!
Hi Eric, I'm loving your mini-guitar lesson series, but the only thing distracting for me is that your guitar is way louder than your voice on the video. When you start playing I have to turn the volume down but then I can't hear your voice when you start speaking again. You probably don't realize that when recording it. If you play one of the lessons back you'll see what I mean, cheers.
@Yaqoob I personally didn’t like the weighless strap because it felt too stretchy and I felt like I didn’t have enough control over my guitar because it was bouncing around too much when I moved
Yaqoob yeah kind of. It feels like a stretchy elastic strap which a lot of people like but I don’t like it because I like the sturdiness of a nylon or leather strap. It makes the guitar kind of feel lighter but it makes the guitar almost bounce on your shoulders.
Sorry Eric but here the jungle book music, at 0:33 the bass clarinet starts to play. It sounds exactly what you're doing ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pVwvSP2KyrU.html
Hi someday I would like to be like you, play like you, and have many Fender guitars and that one day fender will talk to me to make my own line of fender guitars that is my dream every day I ask God to be so and I hope that if
